Double standards

I don't care when my posts get deleted, but at least have an even approach and do the same for other continuously off topic posts on a thread. "drinks with Paul at the Local" springs to mind.

I know I can go off on a tangent and appreciate that banter is not always needed or wanted and creates work for the mods....

BUT it does leave a bad taste in ones mouth to have posts deleted to then see further banter with other members allowed to continue in the same thread.

Jeez this forum is really getting on my t*t's at the moment

Thank Crunchie it's Friday.

Anyone specific in mind or are you asking all Members to maintain 100% consistency?

Mainly the members that have the power to delete posts etc.

Nothing personal at all to a specific mod as I know not all mods mod all areas of the forum....it's just slightly annoying and can feel personal when others seem to have a free reign to continue posting "noise" with no action.

As you're aware Mods have to monitor many posts per hour. We don't get them all and sometimes use discretion to decide if moderation is necessary.

Mod actions are rarely of a personal flavour unless there's a polite warning attached.

If you feel you're being unfairly treated or there are others whose behaviour is inappropriate please use the Report Post icon. We can't guarantee every request will receive the attention posters may believe is necessary as Star Trek is on soon and we do this for free...

Re: Double standards

what is your position on the creation of threads on a wrong section and the unmoving of said threads, specially when the threads are created by Mods?

thanks

well since you mention it.

Landmark posts by default go here. ( and the subject of landmarks will be rebumped soon)
http://www.englishforum.ch/forum-sup...landmarks.html

According to precedent with the xbox360 and ps3 threads, the following thread does not belong in family matters/health.

Cute things kids say

as I said I'm more interesting in the position of the mods on this. I could go on, these 2 will do as you were kind enough to answer

Last edited by Ouchboy; 15.10.2011 at 18:17. Reason: clarified distinction between landmarks in general and rep points/thank subject in thread

other than mentioning a crappy system nothing. PS3 thread was moved to off topic, xbox360 was either rightly so in there or moved to, according to mods understanding it seems.

Threads can be moved by mistake sometimes during a thread merge if the Mod isn't paying attention.

If thread 1 is merged into thread 2 the default location of the newly merged thread is the area thread 1 was located in. That can easily be changed during the merge but if the merge is done too quickly the location option is easily overlooked.

Re: Double standards

Been there, done that. It's a daft 'default' really as mostly the 'original thread' is the one in the right place and the little-half-duplicate-effort the Mod want to add to all the rest is most probably in the wrong place. But although I know it, I still sometimes forget and a whole good thread about Housing Sites suddenly finds its way into Activities/Sports or something.

hi vwild1, are you stating that the ps3 mistakenly got merged to the xbox 360 or something like that? my statement is for the ps3 being on internet/telephone and moved to off topic.

your statement, while helpful in the inner mod workings, does not seem to clarify the thread examples at hand, nor the stance on moving threads.

So are you saying that said examples are such cases?

edit: the landmark thread has been moved, the things kid say, hasn't.

This isn't a gaming forum so unless the topic specifically relates to Switzerland it would belong in off topic.

Mmm fair point, what about when 2 mods actually thank the post stating such inconsistency?

still no answer on stance/policy

Re: Double standards

If you feel a thread is located in the wrong area feel free to hit the report button to let us know. It doesn't mean it will automatically be moved but at least one or more Mods will have had a closer look at it (not everything is black & white in the forum).

..well I've moved one of them as I think you are right but you can't win 'em all. Well I never can, so I don't see why you should.

Supper calls - i.e. Mr Longbyt calls. Adieu
