A sad good bye turns into Off Topic drivel. The same mechanism of people not being able to help themselves is at play, whether it's belligerent or not.

The 'off topic drivel' serves to counteract the more serious tone of many of the threads.

Seriously now, if anybody else would have announced their flounce they would have been ridiculed (see Bertrand)...but no, since this was linked to the religion thread, everybody gets mooshy and understanding. A nice bunch of hypocrites IMO.

It's been said many times before- EF isn't real life, in real life you can take the piss and kid and have fun, here it causes people to flounce and the rest to mourn. Not acceptable. (and an extra for Nschultz )
Sorry to see you go Jack, though I really am curious if you could link to some of the many offensive posts that have spurred your departure. Truly curious.

I asked a serious question, what's wrong with that? If the number is linked to the order of when people joined, it certainly highlights that Jack has been around since EF started.
OK, I concede the one man whore comment but I didn't start it |

I never read a post from Jack, or at least can't remember. :S
I think it's sad that someone leaves, regardless of old or new.
If the old guard goes, and the new stays or viceversa, it's of really no importance to me; It's the people leaving that bugs me a lil bit.

| | | | | I beg to differ. What makes 'taking the piss' on here any different to doing it in real life? In fact, as has been discussed ad neaseum, people feel more able to vent their feelings on a forum such as this than in real life.

Jack has helped a lot of people find sources for different food items.
Me included. I always enjoy reading his posts.

I just extended it to both aggressive and playful yet juvenile crap.

Thanks Jack. You are one of the great contributors to this forum and your market posts have enriched the lives of many expats.
If all members could contribute 1/10th of the useful and interesting content that you have done then this forum would be a rich place.

I can understand time to hit the road Jack... However old chap Jacek will still remain here though and he'll coordinate Tennis activities amongst expats throughout the whole season... BTW, a bit OT and don't wanna steal the thread but Tennis Lessons anyone?

It honestly sounded to me as " Mmh.. search thread... search thread, bible one- oh a utube comment - good. Quote and flounce
More than an actual statement of this being really the last straw.

You only need to look at his stats to see how popular and what a gent he is. Given 0 groans in 5 years and only received one.... and that on the day he announces he is leaving.
