time to leave the EF...

I was reading some of the posts this morning in the Food section and I decided it was now time to leave the EF after roughly 6 years of participation. I think the real lack of courtesy towards others and the persistence of many members to fill threads with their own twisted brand of humor instead of actually answering questions has finally taken its toll on me. But I think the final act of belligerence came this afternoon while looking through the serious and sincere posting about 'Bible training'...really shameful responses - but unfortunately the standard these days around this community.

I thank everyone for their support over the years and for reading our posts (mostly about food & wine). For those who are interested in keeping in touch with us and reading our continued postings on food & wine, then I would invite you to follow us on Twitter or Facebook...or become a friend on my personal FB page.

Wishing everyone the best...

Jack

Apart from a single Groan the thread on the Bible training seems to be remarkably positive, I even posted my favourite quote (no disrespect meant to the OP)

@Ouchboy - no deletions made on that thread

Jack, I hope you'll leave your 'at the market' post here, they are so inspiring and informative. For the rest, knowing you and your positive, tolerant outlook on life, I understand why some things on the forum would upset you.

Yet another of the original gang leaves, really sorry to see you go Jack but I understand why completely... I don't post much here anymore for different reasons though.

I think you were the first EFer I met in person when you very kindly took me around Helvetiaplatz market and introduced me to your favourite vendors. I remember your little joke when we first met... "The Laughing Lemon meets the Grumpy Grapefruit!"

Luckily we're still in touch via your excellent FB and Twitter posts.. and in real life. Keep up the good work.

Re: time to leave the EF...

Did that bible study thread get deleted? A shame really because the OP's offer was interesting and most posters were supportive of the idea.

I mean, really, there's not much difference between a bible study and a KFC run. They both are searching for joy and enlightment as a group without infringing on other's beliefs.

Very sorry to see you leave, Jack. Loved all your foodie insights and will, of course, still follow your Tweets.

And I hope to finally get to one of your courses soon and meet in "real" life. Something I've been putting off for far too long.

I did that walk around Oerlikon too with Jack and it was much appreciated. In fact I still use most of the information to shop at the market once a month or so.
Shame.

Re: time to leave the EF...

I understand what you mean about the sarcastic responses to some threads and that's always gonna happen but it 's when the same people just do it over and over that bugs me.

Anyhoo, have fun in the real world. Come back and see us sometime ya"hear.

And you get a "drive by" groan for your trouble..Don't ya just love that!!

I will never live that down will I?

On a side note, does that number before my user name indicate how many members were here when I joined, making me member number 4643?

If so that makes Jack member number 156. Truly one of the originals
