| | 4% Lockout
Because its a quiet week, I hit my 2% weekly limit yesterday. When I checked this morning, the averages of yesterday show four non-Mods with higher than 4% postings.
How can that happen please? (I don't mind reading from any of those 4 people - just wondering how the limits can be exceeded)

Less than 10 posts too. Maybe the reduced volume of other good folk posting plays with the numbers in vBulletin?

the numbers are indeed acting funneh. It's due to the lack of lolcats... I mean posts...
It has happened to me and grynch on the way down too. after other people's percentages go up, it lowers either his or mine but not both.

It happens because both post counts (yours and the total) are rolling totals over the last 24 hours.
Say you come online after Friday lunch, spend all afternoon posting maniacally (not an uncommon pattern) and hit your posting cap shortly before 5pm (again not an uncommon pattern.) Your own post-count-in-last-24-hours will stay the same until Saturday afternoon, when the Friday afternoon posts will start dropping off the total one by one. If the total post-count-in-last-24-hours decreases during that time - say, because everyone else isn't posting as much Saturday morning as they were on Friday morning - then your percentage of that total goes up, even though you haven't made any new posts.
Hope this is clear - I've just reread it and I'm not sure it is at all. It does happen occasionally - noticed it several times back when I was a mod (and therefore paying a little more attention to things like posting stats.)

It's not technical at all and no hacking or programming skills are required
I'm not going to post any more today because I will leave breadcrumbs and make the task easier....

It's probably easier to explain with a hypothetical extreme example.
Between 8am and 10 am there are 99 posts by other people. You come along at 11am and make a post - so you have 1%.
Then nobody posts.
At 7.59am the next day you are still on 1%
Then, as other posts drop out of the 24 hour window, your percentage will begin to rise, until between 10 and 11am you will have made 100% of the posts, before dropping back to zero.
So basically, when the forum is quiet, the figures can be a little weird.

if it's any consolation I keep trying to post, but every time I start trying to form a thought someone comes up behind me and interrupts me or calls me away from the computer. Then I have to close the window and abandon my contribution.
Bloody family christmases!
