When hubby joined this week it wasn't saying anything, just bring you to the forums.
Thanks for the Info, Nil. That's very interesting. I thought members got some sort of email - maybe a bit later? I'll have to check that out.

Because some how they landed up here and still need help. I mean have you seen some of the questions people ask here. Cleary it coz they dont know how to use a google search, unless they are that dumb.

...but don't we all tick the box 'I've read the ten pages of rules and conditions and agree with every last one of them' without even looking to see what language they are written in?
Do we? I always read the terms and conditions I'm supposed to agree with....Maybe that's why I shy away from doing or ordering something online so often..haha

Re: New forum member requirements? ( Rant about Newbies )

One of the things I "stupidly" asked when I was new was about where to find a turkey for Thanksgiving - the thread was deleted after a bunch of "did you search" type stuff was bandied about, etc etc...

The thing was, I'd already been to Manor with my mother-in-law on some occasion and asked at the meat counter about turkey. The response was a deer-in-the-headlights-look coupled with the fact they didn't have any. Well.

More recently, after having been here for a while, seeing a few different names / translations for turkey and having seen a few times via the forum (courtesy of another noob "stupidly" asking the same question with the arrival of fall) that you should indeed be able to get turkey in Manor, Migros and a few other places. I went to Migros, asked for turkey, "dinde" or "truthan", all of which I know is turkey, and again got a deer-in-the-headlights look. (I later found "puten" - which is also turkey - in Germany, at REWE.)

So... with that long drawn story, I'll say, some people ask because they HAVE asked and searched and asked again and still are getting the same responses, contrary to assertions here. Sometimes a hint about where else to look or another word to use really helps - and often the clue that such a thing is needed doesn't ping until the next time some noob asks the very same question that's been asked twenty times before.

Does it really kill anyone to answer something that's been asked before? Answer politely or don't hit reply, and move on. Big flippin deal.

Wait, he does get an email. And with a link to activate the account I think. I have to ask him what the email says.

But on the forum itself it gets straight to the forums. It could be nice if it could direct to a stickies lists.

nope also different as some self effort was involved- if i had asked where is the police station then fair enough... keep looking , i am 100% sure i have a " i am lazy and want others to find all the answers" post somewhere though.

but as we are sort of on the subject.... i cut 2 of my fingers off earlier, shall i go to the hospital or wait until i go home?

Can I claim it as a business expense? I'm sure all my colleagues have already had this procedure done; it appears to be popular in my company.

Me thinks tax time brings out the gumps or grumpiness in a lot of people.

Shame on newbies who think they will get help from EF without taking the time to learn what to do and how to research it, they have nothing but time right, they are new here .. GOD!! At lease walk over hot coals before "bothering" forum veterans.... off with their heads I say!!
