Re: I like it here now ( about this forum )

Meh. I've gone off forums altogether lately.

You cut a cat in half, you don't get two perfect kittens. You just get a dead cat. And a lot of mess. And a vague sense of nostalgia as you remember a warm fluffeh on a cold night. Until you remember your cat's still dead.

good point, but it works rather for legends or seniors - for us more recent member the cat is still alive and well. or at least worth resuscitating

Agreed MN. And yet- hard when very unpleasant comments by Management on the dark side and replies have been deleted and the thread closed, no?
Such a shame, really.

Well here goes and my last Post on the matter. Yes posts do get wiped on Forums at times, but in this case it was a post from the Dark Side Master stating that he hoped his Forum would soon be the only one left in CH. And my reply that I felt the comment was a pity - both 'gone' now. Not conducive to positive relations really. Back to my book.
Did you go and tell him that? Because you said it here a few times already but did you tell him?

Why not keeping each forums to where they bling and focus on what they offer?

The bloom went off the rose for me quite a while ago, which I presume is part of some life cycle of forum life that a nerd somewhere has made a flow chart about. It's like a new love affair, all fireworks and passion in that first year and then you settle into something different but continue to look back with longing on those heady, early days.

Every now and then you can still get the thrill of the early days though. Probably what keeps many of us hanging around.

Re: I like it here now ( about this forum )

I like this Forum, I'm new to it but I like the mix of local discussions and international issues. I find navigating around the site a bit difficult but this is probably because I am new here.

I saw that comment too. I believe that it was tongue in cheek, controversial whatever - its funny how it was blown out of proportion. But thats just my opinion.

Plus we cannot say for sure that he deleted the comment himself. Comments can be deleted, not just by the poster himself but other mods. So in my opinion, its highly unfair to make such assumptions and I find it quite amusing that it is being referred to as the Dark Side.

Anyway, Frau MathNut makes excellent points as usual. People have left for good, period. Let them be.

Not to single out anyone in particular but I genuinely dont understand why such threads keep popping up (sorry Caviarchips), or passive aggressive jibes are being snucked into various posts from time to time about the other side. Lets just all move on?

that's my fault!! the timing with my personal discovery was just a bit shocking.
You think that you found two threads on different forums that were similar was your "personal discovery" and you found that discovery "shocking"?

Please don't open CNN and BBC News in parallel windows or your heart'll give out.

your comparison is actually completely off the point, but in one thing you're closer to the truth than you might think: I love my "one-page-at-time" safari browser, it protects my heart!

probably what really shocks me is that
A. either people have much more time on their hands than I have although leading perfectly successful lives+careers+families for which I need a 24-hour-day: ENVIABLE !!!
B. they can write mostly coherent thoughts so much more quickly and correctly than I can - and for two different audiences: AWESOME !!!

I'm a pretty educated man, I like to think. I read well, travel a lot, am open to a good political and intellectual debate.

But I swear I have no idea why turtles arrived here.

So I'm probably wrong about myself

Then you have my apologies - I'm unfamiliar with the intricacies of what goes on here beyond my back-reading but I just assumed you were yet another "shocked and appalled Hyacinth Bucket type" which clearly isn't true.

my kids love your turtle high five, Mud.
I wonder if it's authentic, though?! (no, I don't mean if you filmed it yourself, just if it can really happen between turtles from an animal kingdom point of view)

Well I shouldn't take credit, it was Mr. Ruffles who snapped the shutter.
