Let's vote for more sensible posts by The Local!

You can't fail to notice the repeated news articles brought by The Local which have already been posted previously by some forum members. Just like spam and duplicate posts, I feel that we need to get rid of these duplicate news sniplets. I hereby suggest, that we vote/insist that mods actively delete The Local's duplicate news articles....or else ! Ok, that was a bit dramatic....I almost sounded like Nil but can we come to a resolution of some sort and work out a strategy/course of action so that we won't get bombarded with the same article multiple times?

Re: Let's vote for more sensible posts by The Local!

It's their playground, they can post what they want really.

I'm not sure anyone actually likes the posts, but they're no less worse than (for example) my posts.

Just ignore the forum (the news forum, not EF). If everyone did it, it'd be amusing to see "Views 0" on all the threads.

If it's really grinding your gears LiB, just go to "control panel" and then, on the left hand side, select "edit options" under "Settings and Options". Scroll all the way to the bottom of the page and then you'll find a section where you can exclude certain forums (i.e. "Swiss News via the Local") from "New Posts" & "Today's Posts".

By the way, the mods have no control whatsoever about what gets posted in that area, so don't have a go at us about it.

Actually, they're far better than your posts but that's not the point. The main issue is, that they're duplicate and therefore worthless material.

I don't mind the local and actually like the service of receiving random news sniplets but IMO it is a worthless service, if the news has already been posted previously by another member.

So. Anyway. If we're voting, where's the poll?

P.S. Hasn't this been discussed before? It would tickle my irony bone if this got moved to Trash/Duplicate.

Can we do a poll on why the local was removed from the bottom of the users reputation list?????

Or would it just be deleted/locked just like all the other times i asked?

Re: Let's vote for more sensible posts by The Local!

imo - this is up to the mods (even if they say it's nothing to do with them).

For example, we had a thread regarding the swimming Muslims which was closed, and The Local then opened another one, which the mods are - one assumes - powerless to close.

Maybe we can ask The Local to create duplicate threads for all contentious issues that have recently been closed.

Do you think they even bother looking here, before they post - they're just trying to promote their own agenda and "publication".
