Are you now simply a "grateful asshole"?
I would appreciate it if in future business correspondence you would refer to me as "Mr. Asshole, Esquire"

Please now lets try not to let this thread get too far off track, we don't want to go wasting moderator resources do we?

Does that mean we can call you whatever we want, and expect not to be punished for it?

Welcome back, arsehole*

thanks for the welcome back and don't worry about it, I've been called much much worse

just for the record Ed.Bob did refer to me as an "asshole" rather than an "arsehole" and altho I'd pretty sure Ed. Bob is neither American nor Brit, as I am American the first spelling would be appropriate.

I do however try to be pretty easy going so please when referring to me just use the spelling you're comfy with, but please do try to be respectful and use the preface "Mr. "

thank you,

I stand corrected. Let me say it right then:

welcome back, asshole

There. It feels better, too.

I would like to publicly apologize for apparently being an ungrateful asshole.

Previously I would have that that calling someone on open forum an ungrateful asshole was a cause for banning, and a public apology rather than a cause for being banned, but as both Ed.Bob and Uncle Max have used the term clearly it is an acceptable form of communication here on EF.

Regardless of that,as I said above I would like to apologize...

Ladies and Gentlemen - this is a fine example of the art of the "conditional apology" which is prevalent in the British corporate and political worlds - also known as a "Box Ticking Exercise"

If you non-English speakers who are not used to this form of communication would like to learn something, go into your browser, find "Options", and put a little tick in the "Read Between The Lines" box, then click apply, some four letter NSFW language may appear to broaden your knowledge of "Industrial English"

Anyway - welcome back

no, I'm sorry, I think that would be pushing abit too far. This forum has rules regarding behaviour and language and I do try to abide by those rules.

A polite poll asking people's opinion on changing your forum title is against the rule?!?! I guess I have to go read them again... errr read them...

Hold the phones...

I got a thread retitled because I called someone a bitch (well...she was!), but we *are* allowed to call people assholes?

Is it because any gender can be an asshole, but a bitch is female only, and thus "non-PC"?

I refer to Ed.Bob's statement calling me an ungrateful asshole in the publicly available message banning me and a moderator's ( Uncle Max ) repeated use of the word in various forum threads ( which oddly enuf have since been locked/deleted )

EB has been decidedly quiet since his little outburst. Is he stuffing his face so full of humble pie he is unable to speak?

(Metaphorically, obviously)
