Just noticed timestamp of messages is + 1 hour off

Hi

Very minor thingy but.....

For the Forum Admin.... I just noticed that the timestamp of messages seems to be +1 hour more than it should be?

i.e. I sent a message via this forums private message system and then went to the SENT folder and saw the time sent for my message was showing as +1 hour more than it should be ???

Also when I posted this message (I came back to edit it in order to add this update) it showed
"Message originally posted by Jonathan_hughes76 on 08.12.2007 at 00:47"
when it should be "Message originally posted by Jonathan_hughes76 on 07.12.2007 at 23:47"

Please adjust the system clock if needed ??

Perhaps with the system crash and restore the clock is set back to daylight saving and automatic time sync is not set?

Hope this helps. Sorry if I'm wrong.

Many many thanks for this great Forum

If you go into "My Settings" and then "Options", you can change your time zone to "GMT" and then "adjust for daylight saving" and down the bottom of the page where it currently says "all times are GMT +2" this will change to "GMT +1" - the time will then be correct for your posts and PM's.

Re: Just noticed timestamp of messages is + 1 hour off

Thanks a lot.

Yes that helped!

"All times are GMT +2"

Fair enough I can set my local timezone and DST as you point out,
but given that this site is hosted (according to Netcraft) by Metanet AG, Switzerland... why is the display bottom system time not set to current daylight saving state for Switzerland anyhow?

e.g. "All times Central European Time (CET) +0100 UTC "

Like http://www.worldtimeserver.com/curre...px?city=Zurich
or
http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/city.html?n=268

Then people like me wouldn't be confused and wouldn't have to adjust our forum settings.

Just wondered...

Re: Just noticed timestamp of messages is + 1 hour off

Well I'm not sure what you have your settings set to. But I can tell you this. I host the site on my own server (I just rent the space from Metanet). The server is most definitely set up correctly. When I look at the bottom of my page I see this:

All times are GMT +1. The time now is 00:29.

When I go to my settings I have GMT +1 and automatically detect daylight savings settings. Works for me.

Terry's advice is a little misleading - it might get the right result, but only by setting the wrong timezone and applying daylight savings (which is currently off since we are in winter).

If for some reason daylight savings (being off) is not being detected, then manually switch it off, but your timezone should stay correct (e.g. if you are in Switzerland, it is GMT+1)

Re: Just noticed timestamp of messages is + 1 hour off

Update - just looked in your profile. It is correctly set for GMT+1, Automatic daylight savings detection. But there was another switch - is DST in effect - this was set to yes. I've set this to no (correct, since we are in winter). You should see everything correctly now.
