Transfering attachments

I can't see an obvious way of sending an attachment to someone via PM. Can I post it to a forum and then they can download it?

I think there is a filter that if the attachment is worthless nonsense, it won't allow you to do it. It's advanced functionality

How come it doesn't affect your posts then?

Get their email addy over PM, and email the attachment. Attachments over PM have been disabled, since 2005.
