They wont let you delete it, tried it before, even wrote an admin, no reaction.
Maybe if you uploaded a picture of Adolph as your avatar, or say schlötterlig to an Admin, itll work | The following 2 users would like to thank ThomasT for this useful post: | |

Can we have a flouncing sub forum ?

Oh well never mind, can someone pick up the toys on the way out.

| | Re: How do I delete my account? | Quote: | | | | | Let me try the strait on approach: You can't delete your user from the EF.
Only option you have is to stop logging in and using the EF.
Reason: Can you imagine the holes left in threads if everybody that wanted to could delete their user... thus their posts too... Leaving many threads without logical post order or understandable meaning. | | | | | There are plenty of HOLES on this site anyway. I'm deleting as much of my presence as possible, and won't be back. I said "Thank you" to a recommendation for something I've been frantically looking for. And Ace1 deleted my post, citing it as FLUFF. WTF? I am new here and was sincerely wanting to thank someone and hurry off to make an appointment. Eff this. I'm depressed and lonely enough without being insulted by some troll with a fancy title of "admin"

Steady on. There are a lot of new posters who make fluffy posts in order to get to the magic ten posts that enable them to sell stuff in the market place. If you want to get involved with this site then get involved. Don't go off in a huff based on one deletion.
Welcome, by the way.

The OP has been a member for years but rarely posts. I believe her "thank you" post to a very old thread may have mislead the mod into thinking she was just posting fluff. However, if you research her older posts, you'll see the latest post is very much in line with her history on EF.
I personally believe the mod have may been too quick to delete the post but the responding attitude of the OP is also a bit out of line, especially since this may all be due to a misunderstanding.

Come on, you're not that new. You've been a member for 3 years and although you haven't posted much, you have posted and I presume also been reading threads on the forum as well.
Instead of getting in a huff, contact Ace1 through a PM (Private Message) and ask for the post to be reinstated, citing the fact that you don't have enough posts to use the Thanks button.
Then again in her first post she does say they're only here for 3 years so maybe she is trying to head for the Marketplace. Guess we'll never find out.

Yes, and as she's seen fit to raise it here, there were two posts deleted as plain 'thank yous' on 2-y-o threads that she'd had no prior part of, plus two more on a single thread that was actually an advert that had slipped through the net from a month or two back (now deleted) taking her post count to just over the Marketplace threshold.

How is this inability to delete accounts going together with Right to be forgoten? Yes, I know that probably this is not a thing here, but I am still curious how is this legally defined here.
- It's mostly promoted by EU, but not exclusive and Switzerland sometimes also follows some directives?
- This forum should be anonymous (or not?) But admins can see private emails? Which can be connected to real person?

It doesn't remove the content or prevent linking to it. https://archive.org/web/ | Quote: | | | | This forum should be anonymous (or not?) But admins can see private emails? I moderate another site where moderators can as well.
Anonymity doesn't exist either. You can take steps to make it harder to be identified, but generally, if you go online assume everyone knows who you really are, and can see everything you post.

What NAT said.
You can also edit your profile and contact details here - you can use a disposable email address or even a non-existent address as long as you don't intend to use the forum (as you won't be able to verify and will remain in the unverified users group). http://www.englishforum.ch/profile.php?do=editprofile |

California Dreamer, you so often post completely differently from others here, that I've really enjoyed some of your posts. I'd be sad if you left. Is there any chance that your reasons for wanting to leave could be addressed, and remedied? All the best, though, if you're really going to move on.
Please bear in mind that the "delete" feature on this forum doesn't actually delete your posts. So whatever whatever you leave up because you didn't manually delete it yourself, stays up after you go. The only thing that will change is that your username will be changed to "Guest".
In fact, with so many other contributors having left, the threads have become increasingly swollen with posts now attributed to "Guest", making the the posts in any discourse progressively less attributable and less searchable, as each next member leaves.

To anyone who may be contemplating joining the sad and lengthening exodus out of this Forum, would you please first write to Editor Bob, setting out your reasons? Perhaps something could be sufficiently improved, for you to want to stay. Thank you.

If you do that, say, 6 times within a month, Editor Bob will believe there is a huge exodus, but of course will also be happy for all the newbies.
