What happens to zapped threads?

What happens to threads and posters zapped by spam deputies of Moderators? Is there a way of getting said post again- for instance in case police wants to investigate? Thanks.

Nothing is ever lost on the internet. If Police needed to get an old EF post I'm sure they could retrieve it

The plot thickens ........ I assume you've looked under the 'Trash/Duplicate' section?

Was thinking about those advertising here for false documents, as happened tonight.

Gone for good, I think.

[although you might get a PM from a mod, stating otherwise]

Spellbound has become a little unpopular
Re: What happens to zapped threads?

Can you explain fully what happened, Odile? What did the person ask for?

Re: What happens to zapped threads?

I assume Odile is referring to the person offering fake driving licences, passports, birth certificates and the like in the lost driving licence thread.

Re: What happens to zapped threads?

On the thread re losing Greek driving licence and need to exchange- someone posted that they could provide a false one as well as all sorts of other false documents, with an e-mail address given. Ooops BM, posts crossed.

Of course you have. You'd zap anything that moves.

You are our master zapper

Re: What happens to zapped threads?

We get dozens of them, at least it was targeted for a change.

I'd have thought it very unlikely that you'll get any sort of documentation, just less free space on your credit card.

Oh, and to answer your question, OTCBed threads and posts are "soft deleted"; they are removed from public view.

Re: What happens to zapped threads?

We're (mods) really careful to only ever use the 'soft-delete' which leaves the post/thread effectively in an archived state that can't be seen by users, whether members or not, but remain in the system if ever needed for legal or other reasons. Sometimes if an OTBC is done in error, we do restore the posts, but it's not often needed.

There is a hard-delete available, but is not used by the OTBC function, nor normally by any other moderator action.
