| | Workaround for preview/edit/quote post problems
I just found a workaround for the quoting/editing problem - | Quote: | | | | | ...posts which contain at least one of the following special (8bit) characters give problems:
ü ç ¦ ¬ ¢ ´ è ö é ä £ § ° ¨ à | | | | | If you have the Basic or Standard editor selected as default in your profile (Edit Options) these characters work fine - it's only with the Advanced editor set as the default option that these problems are seen.
And if you have Standard set as default, you can still use the 'Go Advanced' button to get to the advanced features. Edit: if you're having any similar issues, including fonts unavailable or some functions not working on some macine/brower combinations, please check if they're also 'fixed' by this workaround and add them here.

Giving this a bump as members keep complaining about the quote function not working. I know it's not a permanent fix, but it does work. Just be careful with the stuff between brackets [ ] when you're quoting, please. | The following 3 users would like to thank 3Wishes for this useful post: | |

But even a workaround is better than nothing.

And so I did a search and found this thread. But I can't seem to find anywhere in my Control Panel where I can click to change to "basic or standard editor" to hopefully fix the problem. Can anyone please tell me exactly where or how to find that setting to change it? Thanks. |

It's not exactly obvious, that's for sure.
Click Control Panel at the top of your screen
Look at the left menu bar. Under Settings and Options, choose Edit options
Scroll down to Miscellaneous Options, and make sure the first drop-down is set to Standard Editor, extra formatting controls

Just thought I'd bump this thread, as there have been quite a few instances recently of people being unable to quote posts, almost certainly because of this glitch, and clearly said users are not aware of it,
To summarise, using the enhanced editor, which is the default for new members, causes lots of problems, so I recommend switching to the standard editor instead.
To do so select Control Panel at the top of any screen, in the left side bar you will then be able to select "Edit Options", thence down near the bottom of the next page the Message Editor Interface can be modified to choose "Standard Editor - Extra Formatting controls".
