Everything on the EF is rubbish by definition because those smart enough to post anything of value are posting on other f....

I like the "by week" stats for EF - and that fact that Christmas week has a post count of under 50% of the week either side. This means that not only do a large number of us post garbage but we only do so when we are being paid to do someful useful.

For certain questionable values of the words "paid" and "useful".

Looking at the Post Count monthly averages for the last three years it is clear that the root cause is the steadily reducing number of members posting. Over that time the average has dropped from around 2750 to 1750 per month. Of those, the top 30 posters accounted for 35% of the posts.

What is being done to address this, or is this gradual decline acceptable?

I suspect the post limit has significantly limited no of monthly posts, lets see what happens.

Anyone new posting any kind of useful question gets told, rudely, to search the 'bloody forum'.

Some 'forum legends' liken this place to a pub where you can come for a bit of banter.

I would liken it to some pub in the middle of nowhere in the U.K. where, as a stranger, you walk in and everyone stops talking and stares at you.

Indeed- and the search function is pretty useless anyhow. Newbies will quite naturally ask questions that others have asked before- so no need to bite their head off, surely. And also, just because a topic has been discussed before, doesn't mean it is not longer topical with new issues/facts coming into play.


Hannah's Auntie- perfect! But where on earth is this, Not on the tool bar, not in 'Home' or 'directory', 'community' or 'Control panel' - so how do you get to this section? (be nice please, I was born way before mobile phones or computers- although my big bro was in the fist batch of Doctorate in IT at Grenoble University, in 1965 or 6! He is the clever clogs and soon 79).
