Jeez, I am gone for 18 hours and you are all still on about root beer. BTW, I am loving this safe zone thread. This is the nicest I have ever seen Adrianlondon and dodgyken manage to be. Keep up the good work, men, and continue to channel your inner kitten.

Now, Big Mac, you only have a few hundred posts, so you are the newest person on here. Surely you must have a ridiculous question or two that we can answer nicely, yes? Give it a go. We are here for you.
Q: Why am I considering all possible outcomes and responses to each and every single possible question that I can think of, before putting it on here? Is that a good start?

Apropo, i'm 15 years in Switzerland now, and 8 years on the forum, i ain't no frisch fleisch. I just generally don't ask stupid, sorry, that was malicious and not Safe Zone lingo, ridiculous questions!

I am feeling magnanimous, (no doubt due to 2-ish glasses of wine), so I think we should start a thread for newbies to ask questions free of risk of recriminations.

I'm proposing this ONE thread where anyone with under, say, 20 posts, can ask questions and we will try to be really, really nice to them. It's in the spirit of a kinder, more gentle EF to counteract the common perception that we are all a bunch of a**hats.

I'll start with one of my noob questions that I had back in 2009. "Why is the bleach so watered down and where do you buy "real" bleach?

Answer: "Real" bleach is interdit\verboten\forbidden. It leaches into the groundwater and is sucked up by the grass\herbs\wildflowers which are then eaten by the cows\sheep\goats and will ruin the cheese\butter\cream. The stuff on the shelf called Javel is the highest concentrate that is allowed and it works just fine.

What say you, evil long-timers? Can we dedicate one thread to the noobs and be nice to them?

Thank you...that was ONE issue i had, finding proper bleach here. Thankfully i went to Germany and now i can bleach/Javel (Yes, it's true Swiss people, i visit Germany's grocery shops and markets sometimes, like you do. So No propaganda, please..)

In fact you can even buy it in Switzerland! Drinks of the World, Bern station.
Ugh. I bought some Canada Dry Ginger Ale there - It's my go to when I've had a late night ... and was so disappointed. It was flat.

It put me off ginger ale.

I'm still looking for Club Soda. I miss vodka and soda with lime.

No, you need to lure them into another thread first.

Listen buddy, if you have issues finding root beer in Swiss, just buy a bottle of Elmer Citro®, add two or three tablespoons of nail polish remover per pint plus enough soft brown sugar to make the color look right, and there you go.

Don't shake the bottle, though.

You're welcome.

Big Mac, really? 15 years in the Motherland and 8 years on the forum and, yet, a measly 300-something posts? This makes you fair game, my friend. Your newbie status is resoundingly revoked.

You don't have to shut up--this is the safe zone! If you are being serious, it's a carbonated drink like Coke that they love in the western parts of the US. It tastes kind of like if Dr. Pepper and a sagebrush had a baby. . .
Rootbeer doesn't even come close to dandelion and burdock.
