PM disappearing.

I got a PM last weekend, I read it and was going to reply when I was back in ZH but now it's disappeared. I can't remember exactly who it was from but pretty sure it was a long standing member so not likely to have been OTCB'd.

I guess my question is, if the sender deleted the PM at their end would it also be deleted from my inbox? What gives?

Re: PM disappearing.

I don't think that happens. I have deleted PMs on my end and the receiver has them as they refer to them later in their messages.

Maybe you accidentally deleted them? Or the forum software just lost them..

Re: PM disappearing.

Only time I can think of this happening would be if a user is OTBCed. Not sure what happens if an account gets deleted, but that's unlikely.

Maybe some sort of glitch. Maybe you're just getting old.

What gives?
The question is not "What gives?", but rather "What gives out first?"

Thanks... we just did a test, Mr Jag deleted a PM at his end but it's still showing at mine. As Mirfields say's, it was either a forum glitch, or I somehow deleted it by mistake

I've experienced what you have, but it was totally my fault.

Often when I get a PM which I can't answer immediately I mark it as "unread". However on the odd occasion I've had a hand to mouse failure and accidentally selected delete instead.

Re: PM disappearing.

If you go to control panel and edit options you can put a check mark next to "Receive Email Notification of New Private Messages". EF will then send a copy of PMs to your email account.
