Not surprised this topic has been raised again. Consistency being the key word, there isn't any.

Re: Thread delete - list of magical forbidden words

I'm about to release AutoMod. Recurrent neural network with deep learning, stochastic tree pruning and man-on-the-clapham-omnibus weightings. It strips out naughty posts with the consistency of a supreme court justice. ("I know it when I see it...")

Oh wait, I'm not. Because there's no money in it.

Does that make you the King Canute of the mods?
Makes Castro someone who stands behind what he does, can back it up with reasons and apologizes for mistakes.
I love those! Unfortunately I don't need a big heart for that as there are hardly any of the kind around anymore.

Stands behind ?? Let's go through this choronologically one more time :

1. Castro thinks he edits a post of mine - and PM's me the usual "Naughty word" warning

2. Castro then thinks (erroneously) because he didn't actually edit the post but issued the warning anyhoo that I went back and edited the post to reinsert the "offensive" word - despite it being commonplace over the board

3. Castro then edits the post thinking its a "re-edit" and bans me - for a week

4. Sometime later that same night I'm back in - no apology - nothing - realise that the word is all over the place and start another thread - pointing out the inconsistency - which others post on

5. Castro deletes that thread and sends me another PM saying (in nice capitals) that I CANNOT USE THAT WORD. No apology or explanation given for earlier actions.

6. I make this thread and lo and behold Castro apologises - "if it means that much to you" - grudgingly given.

Now to me it's more a case of "was forced into" rather than "stands behind what he does" but that's just one person's viewpoint - of course he could have behaved even more childishly and some degree of respect (which I acknowledge) is due but in my opinion that's the minimum to be expected:

Re: Thread delete - list of magical forbidden words

Regardless of whether other posts contain rude words, it's clear in our posting guidelines and in the general terms and conditions that the use of such profanities is not allowed. So you were already in breach of said terms.

So here's a simple question for you. Why?

As a follow-up, who's being childish here? Is it A) the mod for whom you generated work, and who rectified a simple mistake when it was pointed out to him, or B) Tte person who, having chosen to deliberately post in breach of the rules, then makes a big deal out of his profanity being removed and continues to do so for several days?

Take a look at the title of this thread oh wise one - clarity is exactly the issue - as others on this thread have pointed out. Your failure to be explicit means that mods can pick on people as and when they choose - ergo the suspicion of mod trolling can arise. The simple fact that there was plenty of profanity on that thread - highlights that.

Which mistake ? There are multiple - see preceeding post. I do expect the standards to be higher in the case of a banning.

It's about holding people to reasonable standards of decency - something you seem to struggle with.

Forced? I'm sure he's still got the jitters
I actually suspected an other mod

<<some degree of respect (which I acknowledge) is due>> and why not just leave it at that?

Where were you anyway the past weeks? Were you banned?

I have had posts deleted for my comments apparently not being funny. It's called Black Humour. Try watching "Six Feet Under".
