Thread delete - list of magical forbidden words

So my thread concerning a mod's mistaken editing of my post yesterday for use of a word which is deemed to be "rude", my subsequent unjust banning for reinsertion of said word (I did not reinsert it ) got just deleted - by the same mod (quelle surprise).

Now the self same mod has deleted that thread and sent me a PM saying that I cannot use that word and if I do so again it will result in a banning.

So for shits and giggles I went and did a forum search and found that indeed that word (begins with a "c" and ends with an "nt") and several variants thereof including the one I used - (using a "k" instead of a "c") exist in glorious technicolour on the forum.

Is this de-facto proof of mod trolling ??? If not then could we please have a link (since these words are absolutely forbidden from use on this presumably holy forum) to all of the forbidden words ??

Thanks ,
parnell.

I have no desire to troll said mod , I only wish to see fairness. Best of luck to said mod but the evidence is mounting that they've been an arse and an apology is due.

Re: Thread delete - list of magical forbidden words

If it means so much to you, I apologise for banning you yesterday for what I presumed was you 're-editing' a post where I deleted a variant of the C-word. That to me looked like wilful breaking of forum rules despite a polite reminder to watch your language.

Another mod pointed out to me that I was probably looking at a cached page hence why I though you'd gone back and re-inserted it. Once I was aware of the error I instantly lifted your ban.

As for not consistently applying rules, that rather assumes that Mods read every single post. We are volunteer members who do the best we can to keep the conversation flowing.

Does that make you the King Canute of the mods?

Are the words "bollards" and "mollusks" allowed?

I'm a bit disappointed that Castro didn't move the rude-word-list-issue to the first world problems thread.

Good on you for owning it!

I'm a moderator on a different forum. Not many users grasp how much time and attention it takes to be a "good" moderator, and many seem to believe that there is such a thing as a "perfect" moderator.

Many will clamour for a mod to do something about some other user's problem posts, but it's rare indeed for them to accept your judgement call on their own posts, even if you are infallible and cite the relevant rules.

Grand , fair enough - and decency does mean a lot to me. So fair dues to you. Again if you could provide a list of the non-kosher words that'd be informative thanks.

Just keep the conversation civil, as you would at your workplace (assuming you're not a navvy) or among family and friends, and you'll be fine.

You know that loudmouth who just has to indulge at parties in homophobic rants, sexist behaviour or crude language? Don't be him. Nobody finds him big or clever. Surely you'd gain much more impact through eloquence and wit, don't you think?

Hmm seems pretty subjective and abritrary... which makes it open to abuse.

Brendan Behan engaged in all of the above behaviours (including homosexual behaviour incidentally) and I have never encountered nor read a wittier human being - so don't presume to judge - thankfully history did not.

Yeah, I do that every day, but each time I search for posts I get this. Makes me feel as thick as two short planks.

I'm also a moderator elsewhere. I find it easiest to be arbitrary, inconsistent and partial. You get accused of those things even if you're perfect, so it's really not worth the hassle.

In other place, there is a swear filter. Bypass that and it's an instant ban.
