The secret code was the wave smiley. Anyone who thanked a wave smiley was expressing interest in the club. PMs were exchanged which led to other exchanges.
Those were wild and crazy days back at the start of EF.
Remember, Ticino Tom? | | | | | Oh right. Now I am beginning to better understand this urge among the early forum pioneers to have all their history expunged and better also understand those who complain that the forum is not what it used to be.
All that passed me by. Up until now, I thought that STD was Subscriber Trunk Dialing.

After 400 groans you get removed automatically.
„Club EF“ as it used to be known is still quite a lively place. You can get the PDF version of DB‘s last post. | Quote: | | | | | I can't see the 1000 rep room now either, has that been deleted? or was I booted from it?? | | | | | |

It's possible that I have a mental block with it because it reminds me of struggling to read Chaucer at school.

Also, I never met him in real life. I had considered contacting him once when I was doing bike tour which took me past Walensee. But then I remembered a post he wrote when he was teasing a newbie here about the risk of eating long pork, and thought better of it. Unfortunately, I won't now be able to find that post, now all his work has been anonymised. Sad indeed. | | | | | I found this lost post despite anonymisation. | | Re: Mixed messages: EF deletion of posts | Quote: | | | | | We’ve been told time and again that:
1. The only way to leave EF is to stop posting
2. Our posts will remain even after leaving
In lieu of recent events, these policies no longer hold true. DB posted a wealth of information that now no longer exists. I respect any reasons for wanting to leave but I have an issue with his posts being deleted.
Mods: please explain why some posters are allowed to have their posts deleted and others aren’t.
Thank you | | | | | 1. The only way to leave EF is to stop posting

Yes. Once an EF'er always an EF'r!
