I'm an IT professional as well. I'm not talking about banks, I'm talking about vBullettin, which, as a matter of fact, does hash passwords. And that replies to amogle hypotesis.

However after seeing the last posts I'm not sure the security of this platform is really the main topic anymore...
Yes, you are right. The security of this platform is based on the goodwill of those that have participated in it, and built it up me-thinks. All without charge.

Re: Mixed messages: EF deletion of posts

It's always been known as a 'flounce' when done this way as opposed to just not reading and posting any more but remaining a member.
Lot of people chose the latter.

Additionally, some people have asked for themselves to be banned as EF is too much of a timer-waster for themselves.

But there is no choice but to remain a member! Once signed-up, then you are stuck whatever shit happens.
But we all have a choice, and some of us decide to „flounce“.

That‘s a shit for the people coming to Switzerland that can benefit from experience.

Been there, done that, and wish that EF had been there when I arrived.

Why? Who gets to decide the way people react? I would say even DB has tried to stay away from the forum while still being a member. It didn't work out. Some people really want to have nothing to do with EF anymore. Hence asking for deletion of their accounts. It seems drastic or "dramatic" to some, but I assure you it is not. Each to their own.

EF is a drug and needs to be forcefully removed from ones live?
You can't deny there's a bit of unnecessary drama and attention seeking. Otherwise one just moves on and never comes back. But as you said, to each their own.

So there are sagging pants? You're saying that there is a sagging pant scenario.

Is there a van with a logo, at least?
I am reliably informed that jogging pants are the latest thing.

If that's true I'm hiding in the club van, cos I point-blank refuse to wear tracksuit bottoms. Shudder.

For some it's definitely addictive, like most social media platforms are. But in this case that wasn't the main reason me thinks. It was (indirectly) explained on some other threads and for quite some time for those who payed attention or had noticed themselves the same things. I don't think these are some "grand gestures" type of things, some people simply don't like the turn or direction this forum took for quite a while (I won't discuss this anymore) and they didn't see any other way to detach themselves from what's going on. Yes, I know directly from a few of them in case you wonder.

So let's leave it at that, this thread or us discussing ad nauseam won't change anything, neither the "lost members"' minds, nor the very things/trend that have caused these apparently abrupt departures.

Where did these three seek attention before going? They went very quietly.

Haha, exactly. It's the other members who decided to make fun of them knowing full well they can't reply.

Rubbish comment.

Switzerland is hard socially. Many other countries as well, it’s not unique in that respect. I can fully understand why anyone needs the social interaction.

The Swiss, like many countries, develop their friendships within their school / internship/ university friends. And this stays through a lifetime. So they have no need for other friendships, that need to be developed after work hours in a bar.

Have you never asked yourself why you are on this site

Who's making fun of whom?

The only thing I read in this thread was Stlemans stating that past members were discussing present members (or at least one) in a group outside of this forum.
Which is exactly what happened the last time a lot of people left together.

I guess she's referring to me, but in my defense I was making fun of them when their avatars were still alive

There also seems to be an issue with members agreeing en masse against something. That also happens IRL.
Sounds like the issue is members leaving because others didn't agree with them.

She is not referring to you. I meant it in the sense that this was the weird vibe the thread gave, but I'm glad people are not that petty.

Do you believe everything Ticino Tom says?

I’ve always thought he liked to stir things up a bit.

If a site puts a system in place they should either control it or just remove it again.

No clue what that has to do with users leaving.
