Sounds like the issue is members leaving because others didn't agree with them.
You're really new here if you can believe one second that this could be a reason for DB (or others) to leave....

Yeah, must be that weird fascination new members have for certain topics. Or older forum members.

Just my two cents. A lot of forums can get cliquey. I'll leave you to it.

There’s a lot of ‘codding’ going on on EF at the moment.

Well that would be one spin on the situation wouldn't it. Interesting you've extrapolated this from a scant few weeks' membership...

Of course they can. This is not news. Why does it bother you so much? You miss the attention from them? Cute.

Of course they are cliquey, they are in EF. You have to see them in real life. Tame as castrated kittens

Re: Mixed messages: EF deletion of posts

First, my apologies as I am already running late for yodel rehearsal, I read the first 5 pages then skipped to this last one, so might be missing bits of the puzzle: having been on this forum for 10 years, I might not share all the views of the names mentioned as "having left", but I met some of them and truly, they were wonderful people. I was particularly concerned about DB because, after hearing the wonderful news of the birth of their little one, I also read there had been a terrible fire in the little town where they live and one person of about his age died. I sent some private messages and never got replies.

At least, can someone say if DB is no longer on this forum as a result of his decision (a message proving therefore he is alive!) or simply has been deleted. I might be overreacting a little but this forum has been incredibly supportive in good and bad times, I have not a clue about why so "many" old names have decided to leave suddenly, I don't understand this business of "guest" etc., I just want to know that DB is alright and wtf is going on???
