Nah, I still get annoyed by them occasionally.

Learned to never cross chuff's path though. Or DB's, but he "self-wiped"*.
*not my linguistic creation but it made me smile.

Re: Over moderation part 2

I definitely must do something wrong , with almost all of the bad boys and girls mentioned here I get on really well with and even like most of them in their sometimes quirky ways.

I rather have someone telling me straight to my face, even if they call me a 'dummi Chueh', groan at me, mete out some red blobbies or some such thing.

I much prefer interaction this way..., much rather than people who are oh, so nice and sweet to your face, but as it turns out are the worst gossipers/backstabbers known to man behind ones back.

My experience in life has taught me, that those people who dish out, usually can take it on the chin when you defend yourself and fight back.

But most intriguing to me, why do those who apparently have a problem with some other Ef'ers and their behaviour; simply not put them on ignore....and Bob's your uncle.

Counteracting attention seeking behaviour with ignoring it is often the key to a peaceful life.

Life IS unjust, always has been and always will be and EF Mods are only humans with a life beside EF and simply can't play referee all the buckin' time to some spats!

Thanks Mods!!

"Drama llamas or just general twerp", "douchebag"
etc etc Funny you get away with calling names once again. While others get permanent ban for far less
Don't worry, they'll be back.

A complete wink? Not an insult I'm familiar with.

Seriously though, in that post, and in several others even in this thread, individuals are being picked out as examples of whatever sort of behaviour anyone wants to whinge about. In themselves many of these posts could be viewed by some as attacks, and it's very difficult for us to moderate these sorts of things when there's no actual "FMF is an idiot" type of direct insult.

Do you guys enjoy winding people up like this? Do you feel that it makes you look big? Do you do it deliberately to provoke others to complain and get them censured?

I don't understand why people on internet forums behave this way, but I accept that it's nothing new. And every attempt we make to ask people to just self-moderate a little bit seems to backfire on us.

I've always used a very simple form of self-moderation, on the basis that I've chosen from the first day I joined EF not to be anonymous, am personally known to many EFers, and can be very easily identified. Here's the question I ask myself before hitting Submit "if one of my mates down the pub, or one of my next week's clients, were reading this, would this make me look silly, immature or worse in their eyes?"

I do feel that if more people looked at their own posts in this way the whole forum could be a much nicer place.

Having a clear set of rules that are applied evenly to all would be a good place to start!

Re: Over moderation part 2

Chuff posted an definition of what bullying is and is not.

From the "not" list, these two points struck me as being things the forum could just generally do without, and become a much better place.
  • single episode acts of nastiness or spite
  • random acts of aggression or intimidation.

Every six months or so, a thread likes this pops up and people can let off some steam. Sometimes these threads can get quite nasty but this one seems to have a gentleness to it. Honestly, it's a nice change.
