Over moderation part 2 I would have just added a post to my similar complain (about the same mod) two years ago... but you guys locked the thread... so I have to make a new one. I'll keep this short: We sadly had an update to this thread. Tom was rightfully wondering why this post got a groan and asked the person out in a post that was in my eyes in no way aggressive or insulting. While I for once agree with him did I find it honestly funny that our greatest drive-by groaner asks other users to explain themselves... and replied accordingly. An hour later are the posts all deleted for the "personal attack". I know that certain mods regularly need to confirm to themselves that they have the power to mess around... but I dont like my posts getting deleted for no reason and I really dont get it: what exactly was wrong here? Where was the personal attack? It all looks a lot tamer than any of the political threads the involved users participate in... and nobody seems to have taken any offense to it. |

Your own post, while I got the humour of pointing out the irony of the question, also quoted the insulting comment so got caught up in the deletion. |

Re: Over moderation part 2 Three - two - one thread closed as usual :D |
Re: Over moderation part 2 Quote:
It's a lot easier for a poster to make sense of something without the quote than it is for a mod to come along afterwards and try to edit it into some shape that makes sense. And even when we do we're often criticised, as some folk really resent having their posts edited. |

This should be in the first world problems thread. |
Re: Over moderation part 2 I’d like to thank all the moderators for their efforts herding all the cats on this forum. To those who don’t like it, why don’t you volunteer to moderate a thread or too. The value for money we receive on this forum is incredible. Moderators Motto “You cannot keep everyone happy all of the time” |

that applies to engineering, not so much to making music or cooking my own food where half-assed jobs are OK. moderating a forum is closer to building a bridge where 5K cars cross every day or making myself a sandwich? Levity is convenient sometimes. |

Re: Over moderation part 2 LOL yes, not got a clue as I have been out all day. The mind boggles - but don't tell me our biggest drive-by groaner groaned about a groan? |
Re: Over moderation part 2 16 posts and nobody mentions "that other forum they moderate". must be an EF record. |

https://www.englishforum.ch/3242581-post18.html The serial groaner is tolerable, the other one is just mean...cleverly so, I guess too clever for the mods to delete his posts as they are not seen as an "attack". |
Re: Over moderation part 2 ah well, as _V_ groans me constantly for no apparent reason, I find it funny. |
