Did he? Good, I thought I failed. I zapped him for referring to one of our esteemed moderators as "Music Bitch".

True, 22 was Kryptonited, and most/all of the other mods seem to be sitting on their hands or whatever.

Strangely, it seems that most of the mods have either been demodded or had their powers and access reduced. One hasnt been online at all today so perhaps doesn't know about this yet. I'd be very interested to find out what powers and access the two mods to whom I have not yet spoken have.

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong here, but basically this is what I understand of it...

Mod A and Mod B had blocked a user and now Mods C and D (or whatever) have unblocked that user and are trying to punish Mod A and Mod B for having blocked him.

Again someone please correct me if I'm wrong on that... because frankly, I find this whole god damn thing a bit confusing.
ehhhm, nope. Mod A and B found themselves being unmodded sometime last night/this morning.
Nobody knows what happened, have they been hacked, tampered with by an other mod or cut off by Editor Bob. Or has simply a technical problem occurred due to the old software (my favourite).
A banned user complained about the ban to the Local and has been unbanned. Yet nobody knows if this has anything to do with what happened to Mod A and B.
Mod A took the problem to "the public" without bothering to ask Editor Bob about it. But others contacted Editor Bob who has not reacted yet.

Facts are boring, I know.

Unpaid work? That would be against 100% of their posts related to money. Not credible
Ahh, you see, they will change that as well. The warnings will be as such in future:

Pay SFR. 500.00 to avoid a week's ban
Pay SFR. 1000.00 to avoid a month's ban
Pay SFR. 50000.00 to avoid a permanent ban within the next 3 months.

So some people may have to pay 50K every three months.

That I should think will be Fatmanfilms system. While Tom will just hit ban, ban, ok, ban, ban, ok, ok, ban ...... instead of flipping through thanks, groan, groan, groan, thanks, groan, thanks ....

There had been some discussions, and indeed one other long-absent mod was recently removed, but both of them do still chip in from time to time so it was felt unnecessary to drop them.
Given how little they contribute to the moderation on here wouldn’t it make more sense to drop them and appoint others who are available to actually moderate?

It seems to me that LiB used to drop in from time to time very conveniently when another mod had got into strife (again), throw his weight about a bit and usually make things worse than they already were due to him not being in the loop regarding the back story.

Well, I have informed him via email and WhatsApp, so he's not totally out of the loop.

If this is affecting multiple mods, isn't it at the stage where emergency action should be taken?

On the one hand it's a public forum, but on the other there's always been a principle of relative anonymity and if control has been lost and data is at risk something a bit more significant than talking about it on the actual compromised forum seems to be in order.

Bit difficult to message if that function was switched off for that mod?

I for one contact EB only through pm here (and have not had an answer yet).

Why tolerate that kind of behavior? It's against the rules; it's not hard to understand, well maybe it is to non-millennials ...
proportionality. if your child said something similar, would you reprimand the child, or erase all that they said and kick them out of the house?

Re: Mod coup

How come those who are normally mods still have their little titles by their names? "Moderately smart" .. "Moderately Drunk" etc..

That function is only available to those whom the forum software classes as being a mod, no?

So if a software change was done it was more complex than just box ticking.?
