One of the good things about EF is that the standard Firefox ad blocker is really effective

Apart from that, EB's strategy of waiting for the storm to pass, seems to be effective (again and again).

Ha! Finally something useful in this thread. I wasn't aware Firefox is still alive. Any reason to switch to Firefox from Chrome? Please tell me it has better memory management

the main reason is actually the built-in ad blocker. also, Firexfox doesn't give me much trouble.

This threads got everything! Well, almost everything.

I'm still waiting for someone to mention the Nissan Qashqai.

I've heard it's ad-blocker is amazing!

I'm using AdBlock for Chrome and so far it's quite ok. Hate the really poor memory management. It's not even that I don't have enough RAM, but I hate poorly optimized software. Maybe I should give Microsoft Edge a spin?

Wow.

First thing I do on any new machine is install Firefox and disable Chrome or any other browser (as much as possible - I think Edge is still active on my Win10 machine, but I never use it).

So I can't say how much better at memory stuff it is than Chrome, but certainly back in the day that was a major difference between the two and the reason I never used Chrome beyond a few experiments when it first came out.

About memory no. I just opened firefox and it's already hogging 2 GB RAM. A poorly coded website can make the consumption go to 8GB.....as any problem in Windows, just restart

I should give it a spin then. I'm from the Netscape-upgraded-to-Firefox generation so there's a warm, fuzzy feeling when I see the yellow tail

We still use a few Linux applications at work and you're probably right it's partly a Windows issue as Chrome under Linux seems to be much snappier. Never really bothered to measure, but just a subjective feeling.

Can I use a Nissan Qashqai to move from my apartment where I will give the landlord less than 1 months notice to move to a new canton as a Non-EU L-Permit holder who's just been fired?
I've been here 12 years and can't understand the contract that I signed so I think it should be possible or should I hire a lawyer for this? My health insurance ought to cover the lawyer fees.

I'm also a bit disappointed that nobody has shared best practices for handling situations like these, based on their experience of other forums that they are moderating.

That's been covered. Best practice is to talk to members first:

I've already lost one forum from management not being bothered to talk to the members before making decisions. Would hate for this to be another one.

Thanks. I just hope that this example was not about the Nissan Qashqai Owner Forum. According to unconfirmed rumors, this forum became irrelevant because the car was so perfect that there was nothing to discuss.

It's as logical an explanation as any.

Some people's computers are perpetually logged on even if they're not reading pages. I wouldn't read too much into it.
That and some people read and contribute when they have time and mostly - when they feel like they have gotten enough info.

Thanks ya'll for messages. "Mod coup" is an unfortunate title, I agree, looks like it was meant to attribute blame of sorts, despite the fact that the good mods I know would not tresspass like that, I certainly wouldn't.

It looks like we aren't smarter today than yesterday. Our head admin acted. If we create civil and respectful place for people to share, people will share and tell us. Thanks, Tony, for coming back with explanation, it helps us understand.
