Why, MusicChick, do you do this? For what reason and to what purpose, do you post, over and over again, things that are bound to upset and offend others? And not just one or the other user but many users, repeatedly. What motivates you to behave in this way? What do you get out of it?

Three months ago, almost to the day, you wrote, Is your horrible post on the "I smiled because…" thread the result of your thinking more about the effect of what you write?

I have tried, but I genuinely don't understand what you're about. There is a huge disparity between your pretty words of affirmation that you're wanting to work towards this forum's being for constructive discussion, a civil and respectful place for people to share, and that you will consider what you write before you post… and then what you actually do post.

Not all your posts are bad, but over and over again your posts erupt into being cutting, snide, condescending, rude and offensive. I can see no justification for such behaviour (by you, or by any other poster).
Either you know that you are causing trouble and pain, or you don't even realise it.
  • If you do know,
but continue to post what causes trouble,
then you are wilfully evil (which I don't actually believe to be the case).
  • If you do not know,
and are still unable to understand, even though users have criticised you and explained to you what they found out of order in your posts,
then there is something rather disturbing about your self-assessments of your posts and/or your ability to modify your behaviour.
I have written you careful mails, asking you please to desist from posting in a way that so many find unnecessarily provocative, aggressive or offensive. You have never replied to one. That is why - and after seeing yet another offensive post by you, that post to which others have reacted because it is thoroughly awful - I once again appeal to you, publically, to tread more carefully. I do not think it is reasonable, responsible adult behaviour to persist in a behaviour that is destructive, and sure to cause pain.

Please, please, MusicChick, this is one more appeal: just please don't make any more trouble. It isn't funny, it isn't a game, when it goes so far as to jangle the nerves of many users.

Once you've achieved that with your provocation, yet again, does it perhaps feel to you like a successful day's work? (I still want to hope that the destructiveness in your posts is not deliberate.) Or are you perhaps genuinely impervious to the many appeals that have been made to you?

Either way, that you continue to post in ways that offend is disturbing and perhaps disturbed. Please, stop.
Sorry folks, but I‘m a bit of an EF cruiser since lockdown - social media is a no-go. I don‘t get it - MC was always a really good Mod (but she got on my nerves as well of course - just skipped over those intellectual parts).

The bits in-between were really good and motivating. Single Mom, educated, physically fit, even still wears high heels ( yeah, well that‘s a questionable life choice).

I don‘t understand the problem - can anyone educate me?

As I said in the other thread, mods are members just like the rest of us. Not worth it to expect more. But as Belgianmum said above when someone creates an inappropriate post, it needs to be notes.
I don't agree - mods aren't just members, the whole point of a moderator is to keep the forum civil and to deal with bad behaviour. They should at least try to be role models in following the rules.

To quote from the actual rules, moderators "do this to try to make the forum a better place for everyone." - it's hard to see how untrue statements fit this.

The acceptable rules also include "to avoid deliberate disruption to a thread" which seems to apply pretty clearly to the inflammatory statements posted on a thread "I smiled because..."!

There's also "If you wish to discuss a different topic, either find a relevant thread to do so using our search function, or open a new one."

Deliberately inflammatory and unpleasant posts and an absolute refusal to engage.

If high heels are the standard... oh boy.

Plenty of educated folk on here. Though I think emotional intelligence is the most important quality needed.

I thought it was about that post on the "I smiled because" thread, which coincidentally just now disappeared... the one which was clearly aimed at pissing off any Brit on EF. I think its a cultural thing.

I'm a Brit and I don't give a damn about the political view, it's a free country, but rather the fact MC was called out for a factually incorrect point and then instead of correcting it just made a bunch of comments to make the situation worse - which is basically trolling.

That was kind of the point though.

If we had a tool to automatically switch the names of political leaders depending on your viewpoint, half the recent threads would still make just as much sense but everyone would agree with them.

A minor point...

But nevertheless not the point here, which is that the comment had no place in a thread designed to lighten people's spirits -- something that thread has done for more than a decade with pretty much 100% consistency.

Re: Mod coup

The 'outrage' at MC's post was because it was posted by MC.
No one really cares, Brit or not, at a political jibe of an event that took place nearly 80 years ago.
It's just a witch hunt.

And no, I'm not inferring MC is a witch, just in case someone wants to take offence.
