Many years ago I worked by the river Aire in central Leeds. A local historian told me about Tenter hooks, and that 200 years previous they dug channels from the river which they could flood in which to stretch wool - the area was big for wool weaving then. The building I worked in by the side of the river was called Tenter Lane, it's all been built over now and obliterated by fancy offices and apartments.
growing up in north west england which was at the epicenter of the industrial revolution, i had to learn way too much about textile manufacturing, steam power, railroads and canals.

i remember from school the discussion of tenter hooks during one of the many lessons on the evolution of textile manufacturing. i remember wishing that they would teach us more about military and geopolitical history.

Is that why I never received a reply from you about my deleted post a week ago when you mentioned "against the rules" yet nothing of the sort was in the rules about that?
Why does that not surprise me.

Somehow reminds me of the old joke about
In Morroco, the Moors come down from the hills
Whereas in Lancashire .....

I will go and get my coat now.

4-5 months not enough? When I joined, Mr Huff straight away picked multiple arguments with me and every time I kicked his ass he would post that rolling smiley, sometimes edit the post just to add that smiley So no, I don't have a duplicate account here!

In all fairness, it has run its due course long ago....perhaps the OP will show us some mercy and finally close it.

It has? Can you point me to the post where what actually happened to the mods and their powers back then?
I noticed it derailed - what else is new - but although this might be attempted I don't want it to just fizzle out in order to avoid having to stand up for who ever for what ever.

This how Editor Bob chooses to operate. Not to comment, and wait for it to blow over. So you either accept this, or not. But we will never know.

So, did I miss the actual outcome of all of this... how did the mod account privilege lockouts etc happen? What was the conclusion of the investigation?
