can moderator cancel the "negative reputations" given to me by 2 members?
 

Dear moderator or admin:

I asked a simple question here: https://www.englishforum.ch/housing-...-payments.html

and "st2lemans" has given me a negative reputation, calling it "Dumb post of the month" and groaned on almost all my reply posts on that thread.

"Papa Goose" has also given me a negative reputation, which is the 3rd consecutive one that he has given to me. They are the only people who has given me negative reputations since I joined the Forum in 2018.

Is it possible to cancel those "negative reputations"? or is it how it works here: If somebody is "senior" in the forum he can simply give bad reputation to other junior members simply because we "give him shit" (from "the shawshank redemption") ?

It's just imaginary internet points. Try giving some negative when you are able to. It's good fun!

Sometimes you get 3 or 4 PMs from the person about how much they don't care about the red rep.

you are absolutely right, this is why I didn't react when the guy gave me the first 2 "negative reputations".

but I find it abusive now(not even sure if it is personal against me), and weird the forum mechnism only allows senior members to do it :msntongue:

the same people give red rep to the same people- all the time- same for groans.

Says more about them than about you- just laugh at it.

No. Even if it were technically possible it would open up a whole world of pain - can you imagine how many people would complain about negative rep and want it removed?

There are defined limits to positive or negative reputation any member can give to any other, up to five points if you have over a certain amount of "green" points, and for how frequently you can give reputation to any given member, based on how much you've spread around to others in between times; no-one can give reputation twice to the same post.

So you have to piss off quite a few people, in quite a few posts, before you start accumulating a lot of red blobs, which, for most people, acts as an education service to help them avoid continuing to do so.

Only the moderators and the individual member can see who has given reputation to whom, and with what comments, but the same rules about civility of comments should apply there just as they do to Personal Messages and on-thread posts.

Funny, this same person did the same to me as well calling me even an "asshole", for removing my car for sale from this forum a few years ago.



I do wonder sometimes what kind of "real" life certain members have here on the forum judging by their negative appearance online. I guess it must give them some kind of satisfaction.

Insecurity, lack of self-esteem- and so much more. As said, their problem. Will never bow to the kind of threat bullying by those guys (they always are).

Most of the time, I know when they are going to groan or red rep - but this will never stop me from saying something that needs to be said ;) waiting for the groan or red rep is the fun part.

stLeman gives reps? I thought he only groans and he does that all the time, so no need to feel special.

Two people giving negative reps is not cyber bullying yet. You would (or have) not complained about two people green repping you.
And please don't bash the senior members, I've not given out a single red rep in my entire EF-life :msnnerd:
As some wrote: Ignore them, people who red-pebble you are usually people who are too lame to speak up in public. Okay, with stLeman that shoe doesn't quite fit. Yet he might only be frustrated that the handle "grumpy" is already taken.

I'd look at the groans to posts ratio. I have 23 groans in 23 posts. That speaks a lot about the person that groans :D

If you have 20 groans on 12 posts, that's a different issue. The world is trying to tell you something. It's either a really divisive issue, or a really unpopular opinion. No more.

Don't worry. If you improve your newly-acquired greens will stay and grow, but there are plenty of other people who you've now informed that you may be someone to look out for, and who will be more than happy to give you more reds if they feel you deserve it.

I think it it may be considered cyberbullying is under my preception that only senior member could give bad rep, as I have never had that capacity till now and for 2 reasons:

1, stLeman gave me a red rep and groaned on basically every of my posts on that thread (7-8), it's quite special
2. papagoose has given me 3 red rep consecutively
