I wonder when the moderarors are going to do something about the drive-by groaning in the thread by jamon8 and MidfieldGeneral, in particular. Or is this permitted now? Looks like a rather partisan approach is being taken. No surprises there.
When did this become not allowed? I must have missed the rule change.

In 95% (or more) of cases, I would say that the groans given are pretty self-explanatory and don't require more of a waste of bandwidth to verbalize them.

Yes. It took EB about a week to realise that the ban was fully justified.
I’m not sure it even took him that long.
I think he came back and went on a bit of a groaning spree against people who disagreed with him which he hadn’t done before.

Although I didn’t usually agree with his posts I didn’t really have a problem with him pre the initial ban but he was rather unpleasant once he had been reinstated.

22 Yards and Ace1, would you like your frock back or are you OK with your custom fitted forum trousers? Genuine question?

I'd like a clear explanation why my frock was removed following a single member's complaint about another moderator. Furthermore, I'd like that explanation to come directly from the manager of The Local. As discussed here extensively, it's really not too much to ask for a little civility from Editor Bob and co.

It would be nice to hear from jamon8. I've been awarded multiple groans in the past few days from him so it would be lovely to read his point of view and maybe give me a chance to groan him in return.

...So I'm sorry to say it, but part of me can't help but wonder how many of us might actually be happier -- or at least more at peace -- if we didn't use this forum. Taking long breaks from here now and then can really work wonders and force you to realize just how much time and energy this place had been consuming. Taking long breaks from here also really helps allow you to emotionally distance from it.

"If it costs you your inner peace, it's too expensive."
This, so much this. As was mentioned by someone upthread, I have taken a step back in the last few years. Partly due to life events giving me a changed perspective, and partly due to the fact things here on EF don't change.

No matter how many times people are asked, warned, banned, whatever - it's groundhog day. The anaolgy of a bouncy castle seems to fit too sometimes.

If I could make a humble suggestion: if there's a need for a "left wing" moderator (by the standards of EF) - how about pancakes? Nice, non-tribal person. Maybe would add a bit of balance.
Ha haa! Thanks. But only if I'm paid.

There would have to be some kind of real reward for helping to manage this virtual insane asylum.

I can't add much to that, TBH. Restarting/continuing with no such response from EB or higher management, and with the constant unspoken threat of removal without discussion or explanation just would not be tenable.

Yea, well FMF already thanking each and every comment in his favor on this thread already shows clear biases and is the same sort of passive aggressive behavior used by another mod on this forum. So yea, we will see then.
I would explain that as having an opinion and showing what you agree with. You're not going to tell everyone that a mod cannot have an opinion?

Avatar collision is a real problem, apparently. Every 23rd person on an Internet forum is likely to have the same avatar (or birthday, I cannot remember which)

What I find most bizarre about all of this is that people are arguing over being a mod -- a position that requires quite a bit of time and energy and one that the person does NOT receive payment for or any kind of reward
And there we have it. Frankly, if I was in the position where I was mod of this place and could stop, I would be pretty relieved. There are plenty of dickheads on the Internet and plenty on EF. There are also cool people.

What I can say is why take all of this crap to heart. So what if someone groans you, disagrees with you, red-blobs you? I can actually say that as just a member, it is nice to forget about the agendas some people have and bang on about. I don't use the ignore function, I have that built into my head.

At the end of the day, being a mod isn't all Free Beer. If you cannot face the fact that you will not please all of the people all of the time (and some at all), it's not for you.

I don't know how many mods have been cut but I recommend t-shirts. I hope there's not six of you because the EF Six is long since taken.

Filters people, filters. And yes, I like NotAllThere have been a mod of a forum in the past

I name this law Mathwin's Law(tm), the law where a disruption in the forum matrix will lead to someone stating that they're a mod of another forum.

Frocked ones want to hold on to their frock!
Naked ones are dying to get hold of a frock (directly or through their Mod proxies)!

I'm not calling anybody crony, the projecting is yours (the anti-MC crowd) alone. As for you personally, whether you call others cronies, or merry men after they were called cronies, doesn't rally make a difference, you lump them together, too. That's the mindset of identity politics.

Besides, still looking forward to your demand for 3wishes to step down.
I guess when you don't have much to look forward to, you begin to create your own version of expected reality. Unfortunately, I shall have to disappoint you, much as life appears to have done, judging by the level of misanthropy you so frequently exhibit. Welcome to my ignore list, I hope the other forum members are at least a little entertained by the inevitable rant and bile. Rest assured that I am not censuring you, you aren't important enough for that, I am simply bored by the tiresome predictability of your "contributions".

I am not picking sides but you've gone to the extent to explain this to someone who could not give a rat's ass.

Just put the fecker on ignore, you don't need to discipline them verbally. That way, your point is made to you because you're the only one who really cares.

Otherwise you look like you care and Urs Max will take great glee in your reponse.
