New accounts from previous members.

There appear to be quite a few people returning to the forum who used to be members but left and got their accounts deleted for various reasons.

There were certain posters on here who previously left who I would really rather not deal with - at all. (Reply to any of their posts etc).

It's fairly obvious that some new users have previously been on the forum.

I guess there's no way to tell who these people are so I can avoid/ignore them?

I appreciate it's not against forum rules to re-join but I just want to avoid any confrontation with people I want nothing to do with.

Not gone un-noted from my side either - welcome back most of you!
It‘s just a shame that some have passed, so couldn‘t, but then EF would have been complete, informative, often abbusive and fun again. All at the same time!

If you want to ignore someone, just click on their handle, view public profile, user lists, add to ignore list.

If you want to ignore a thread just click on Thread tools, then ignore this thread.

I find it funny that some of them seem desperate to be recognized.

Who are you talking about? The ones I‘ve noticed were sadly missed.

That's not quite the same thing. I know how to ignore someone - I'd like to know who they are up front so I can do that.

Unfortunately that's not very easy. Many newbies are not that transparent. Some do want to be recognized, some don't.

It's not a perfect answer, but in general observe the posting style. If it seems familiar and you blocked them before, go ahead and block again.

I didn't block them - I just ignored them. Works for me.

Can someone explain to me how in the past "abusive" was "fun", but now it is not to be tolerated? Genuine question.

There used to be a lot of what‘s called „banter“. A form of teasing. It could very often over-step the mark, lead to groans and bans etc. But friendships were made, and no-one took it seriously, as they needed EF for info and loved to have that bit of non-Swiss interaction.

But what I‘ve passively been watching on EF recently is something different. It‘s more bullying and abuse. And very little, or NO info.

You have a great deal of people on this forum, that have been established here since decades, and know the ins and out of making a life here. Regular clowns and trolls only serve to the 3 or 4 followers they might have.

The EF however, serves all of us that have somehow ended up here, in Switzerland, wondering WTF am I doing here, and how do I tackle it

Aha. You mean like you calling me a moron for no reason other than a groan?

I have asked the mods once (in the staff area) if a new user has been here before and one of them has confirmed that I was right, but that user hasn't been banned so all good. But they wouldn't or couldn't tell whose "reincarnation" that was.

The funny part is the said chap had denied he's been here before, called me names etc., mocked, you know, all the shenanigans.
He's my on ignore list anyway, so you can do it either way...if they sound like they have been here before, it's very likely they were. Even if they weren't, there's no point in arguing with anyone here.

Whatever your personal opinions about a poster are personal jibes at them are not really necessary.
Hope that helps.
