Drives me nuts! [Why must mods move my misplaced threads?]

I love this forum and use it extensively: find it informative, sometimes provacative, interesting and possibly a little frustrating. BUT one major complaint. Don't know whether I dare voice it for fear of another slap on the wrist by the Forum Administrators.
Whatever, whichever, whenever thread I start, invariably someone moves it! This takes up valuable space in my private messages box which is rapidly running out. Come on FAs, give us a break, don't jump on us immediately to move things around totally unnecessary, or add things like "Evian, France" to a "wanted" ad. Haven't you got anything better to do with your time? The Swiss-German 'pingelich' comes to mind........

Re: Drives me nuts!

If you posted in the right place, and gave complete information in the first place, then the mods wouldn't have to move your posts, would they?

At least you got this in the right section. Although, perhaps 'Forum Support' might be more appropriate...

Why does anyone hang around this Forum, if it is that frustrating ...

Re: Drives me nuts!

Welcome to Switzerland! Look on the bright side.. this forum is probably great practise for 'life in Switzerland' for you! In Switzerland, things have to be put in their proper place, otherwise someone usually moves it into the right place.. this can be very frustrating for foreigners, but that's why Switzerland is so clean and well-organised. You'll get used to it after a while! The good thing is that if you put something in the wrong place on the EF, you get a private message (which you can just delete, by the way), whereas if you put something in the wrong place in Switzerland, you usually get a huge fine!!

Re: Drives me nuts!

You see the bottle as half empty. Consider that some people have to deal with the trauma of having their threads repeatedly deleted.

I guess that many of us have had posts moved from time to time. It is not a precise science and even the admin can get it wrong. I had a thread moved by one mod, and then moved to a different section by another mod. This is not exactly a major issue. The post is still there and can be found through 'search' wherever it is located.

As far as your PM box filling up, it is a simple exercise to go to the PMs, tick the box to the right of each one that is no longer relevant and then select 'Delete' at the bottom of the page. If the PM box is filling up and you wish to keep the messages but free up space, you can select the messages to save as above and 'Download as TEXT'

Where the mods have added 'Evian, France' to your 'Wanted' Ads, I am sure that it has been done to assist everyone. You are not so likely to get responses from people who are in Zurich, for instance, as you might from Geneva. I am sure that I saw something along these lines in the general guidance.

moved to forum support. This is where you complain about us, not in complaints corner.

FWIW, for someone who is statistically a taker and not a giver, you're welcome

Well, this might make sense to you, but it doesn't to me.

Yes, I have lived in CH and know the pitfalls and drawbacks, but if you look ever so carefully, you see that now [thank heavens perhaps] we live in France.

Perhaps you could give some better examples of where your posts have been moved or modified, so we can judge the validity of your rather trivial gripe.

I live in canton Zurich and if you place a 'want ad', knowing you are in France will save me the bother of looking at the thread. So I am thankful that detail was added, as would anyone living near to you who could look.

As to your PM inbox: why not delete old messages??

maybe instead of moving your threads, we should therefore post in Complaints Corner about people who post their threads in the wrong forum then?

Two wrongs make a right, right?
