Re: How to close a Thread?

I have to say, MC is always ready to take it for the others. A mod comes, write a post, left, didn't come back, an other came put some oil and blow on the fire and left.

But MC is there and she is taking it. Well done to you girl. I wish the other two could come back in here and sit down and listen for a change. The mods in here work hard for the forum and the users. Some give the impression to works against the users. One left all of a sudden and left the others mods in the caca without enough consideration to let them a chance to turn around, an other one loves to pissed off people, etc.

But thankfully, we do have great mods in here. Those who knows how to talk to the members and who are working for both the forum and the members. Thanks to them.

Now if we could have proper argumentation about the threads closed, that would be awesome. Can we do that without wood sticks and oil?

Thing is, if people are so sensitive, why click on threads with breast implant and penis implant in the title?
It's like someone writing to the BBC to complain about a programme that would have offended them if they'd seen it, but they'd only heard about.

FYI, it was also members who exhibited pretty intense annoyance with said hot thread.
The one about the fake boobies or the one about penis enlargement?

Re: How to close a Thread?

This thread is getting out of hand and overly personal.

LB said she closed it and explained why. Fair play. She also said that if other Mods wanted to open it, she'd understand. Again, fair enough.

If the thread is on a trivial topic, who cares whether it is open or closed. Or more to the point, who cares enough about it that we should start slagging people off about it.

I think a touch more respect for each other is needed.

So, wait, is this Daytime TV now ? PG and all ?
Come on dude, we are not allowed to have any fun ?
How does it work if we are only supposed to post information and nothing of any funny/risqué nature ?
We are all adults here and some fun can be...well...direct.

And while we are on the subject, if one forum member objects to a thread, its closed. Is that how it works ?
*mischievous grin*

Word, specially when it comes to DELETING threads without any reasonable argument.
Someone wanted the thread reopened, and created a poll. Then it gets deleted???

Why didn't the offended parties voted or commented on said thread... at the very least give them the opportunity to manifest their opinion, right???

That's the thing.

There. It makes me feel like stop reporting..
Thanks, for honesty and thumbs up to us. Reporting is really really helpful. You and others, seriously. I know it always looks like horrid war and wrath in the forum when people and ideas clash, but just to let others know, the same members report and take care of the community, even when they are busy dissing or posting boobs.

I think this is exactly the point !!!

If it's not your cup of tea, go and read something else.

While it is under the correct forum section, and not offensive or aggressive, there is no justification for closing it.

People shouldn't take the moral high ground and interfere.

If the thread is useless, it will fall to the bottom and be lost eventually.

If people are posting on it, it is of interest to somebody.

The fact that someone took offense to a topic about fake breasts is no further out of line than any other thread on here about religion or racial tension - often drawing far more heated responses.

People post some really boring and ordinary crap on here, and they should have the right to do so.

Closing a highly active thread that hasn't breached an obvious forum regulation was unwarranted.

Dude, the thread(s) were about fun.
Little bit information, lot more fun.
And if the "fun" bit is taken away, there isn't much left now is there ?

Its not about that thread in particular.
Its what happened.
Thread open in the correct area, people having fun, some info getting exchanged, someone takes offence and....bam...thread closed and honestly, the explanation was inadequate.
When a thread with over 150 posts is closed, it deserves a bit more than "no value add". And besides, since when does Off-Topic add value (which they did though) ?

You'd be amazed how many are turned away as a direct consequence of the sheer volume of noise; something Mark told me he was very concerned about avoiding.
Please, please, give some examples of this "sheer volume of noise". Because I don't see it. Not at all. I'm serious and not trying to just perpetuate an argument or be snarky. Would love to see what you're talking about.

Re: How to close a Thread?

We´ve been thru all this before. It´s why so many people moved on and left.
If it´s to be about selling cars and furniture perhaps it´s time for change .

I guess if enough people PM Paul from the Local about the issue with The way EF posting rule and cleanup work, it might...

Just a thought.

OK, fair point(s) - as always.

Think we can keep it away from the personal stuff though (including the references back to Mark's dream which - whilst laudable - I think has evolved beyond recognition, although as a newbie I hesitate to comment)
