Is it just complaining and whinging for the sake of it (not you specifically ), or is there a specific request?

Ah! Sorry, brain slow today...

Basically we would like to be able to understand if there is actually forbidden topics on off-topic. Afterall, human anatomy is not worse than war, and as long as one keeps proper, there is no reason for censorship. If there are topics forbidden, meaning censorship, I would have to ponder on my existence in this forum. I believe firmly that everything should be able to be discussed among adult without the need to lobotomize anyone's brain. As long as it keeps proper.

People would also like to understand why the topics were closed. We understand that some people, Americans included, are more prude when it comes to sexuality. But one can still talk about it without being vulgar, which is what we did. If people can rip each other on topics as religion or war in the off-topic area, insulting each other before any action is done and thread closed, we don't get why we are not allowed to make a funny - yet informative - topic about penises and mamary glands. The thread was closed, even though:

1. was unbealivably on-topic on the 5th page
2. people gave interesting information
3. people were being friendly
4. people with oposite points of view - looking at you Tid - behaved like adults and didn't flame each other
5. the thread was on the correct forum area
6. everyone was having a good fun
7. no rules were broken

Afterall, I don't check topics such as "Middle East (...)" or "Americans rule the world (...)", so more conservative, still in Victorian times, people can also skip the topics "Breast implants" and "Size of penises".

I don't mean to start a sexual revolution in this forum, but there is no reason to be ashamed or afraid of the words penis, vagina and breasts. One can talk about the subject of sex without being vulgar or improper. Even victorians managed to have intercouse. Otherwise we wouldn't have British wearing German Army jackets in Switzerland...

So basically, I'd like to ask:

1. Other members, behave like adults and do like everyone else: if you don't like the topic, ignore the thread
2. Let us talk about sexuality, as long as we keep proper
3. Don't censor based on personal moral grounds. Keep head cool and follow the general rules instead
4. Be consistent. If I ask for a thread to be closed because they are denegrating a religious minority and I'm refused on the grounds that it hasn't broken any rules yet, so the same should be with tits and dangling bits.

Hope was fluent. Having some English language problems atm. Missing words and mispelling. Might be very low on blood pressure... MEDIC!

Re: How to close a Thread?

There is just one problem with the "we are all adults here" line of argument: it's not true. There is no age limit on registering or posting, much less browsing, and I know for a fact we have several minor EFers.

Mathnut clearly never agreed to being 18 on pr0nsites on the webz...

Minors are no real reason to closed the 2 threads in question anyways, IMO.

Re: How to close a Thread?

I did not contribute to either of the 2 threads under discussion however I did read them with amusement. Part of the reason to be here. I do not want to be informed or educated all the time. Sometimes fun plays a part also - something which some rather pompous individuals seem to have forgotten. As others have said it was a proper discussion albeit tongue in cheek sometimes.
What I do find odd is that it should be closed at all (given the content was in the main informative and responsible). If this is due to some sort of censorship or personnal pecadillo of those in charge then that is a poor response to folks here who contribute and help others as well as posting in off-topic discussions.
Very poor outcome in my view for the wrong reasons it seems.
If you are going to censor then let us all know - if you do I'm off elsewhere.
thx

Re: How to close a Thread?

If minors are here looking for stimulating discussion on boobs I think there are one or two other sites available on the internet where they might find more - and are probably better at finding it than you or me....

Well there you go. You just made an argument for stronger moding... As I understood it this is what the whole storm over the T&Cs was too - that you would be held accountable for the content you put up here.

@ Cricketer - I've not met Longbyt in person, but based on various interactions I've had with her, pompous is the last thing I'd call her.

OK - gotcha and (as always) perfectly eloquent

I don't agree myself with point 3 - its like the definition of pornography. Its very difficult to codify legally but "you know it when you see it". The T&Cs are only guidelines and if the mods can't exercise their own judgement, why are they here. But it is a valid discussion

Point 4 I totally agree with and I hadn't thought about it in that way, so thanks. I too have asked for racial or religious posts to be taken down and been refused, so I think this is a valid point.

You are the new poster girl for the Occupy EF movement

if the Mod's can't exercise their own judgement, AND temper that with the understanding that some "off-topic" discussions are just that... off topic, but maintaining the original off topic-topic and not descending into hostility.. why are they here?

I do understand that there might be minors in the forum. But if a minor (let's take it someone under 18 and not someone under 16) has internet access, I do honestly think they know how a short/long penis looks like, or how a fake/normal boob looks like.

The point is, the posters WERE adult. Meaning, all was "proper" for minor eyes*: no naked pictures, no porn references other than the fun quotations, no mindless sexual innuendos, no pedophilia.

The way people act on Israel topics are way less proper to minors than the phrase "Why do women want breast implants?"

* - I confess I'm not the best person to talk about what is proper for minors or not. I come from an ultra-christian family, where no show of affection, including kissing, is publicly seen. Yet I knew where babies came from at the age 8. Because school taught me. I saw a birth video at age 12 and decided I'd never have kids so my vagina doesn't go through that. But I know kids know porn before they know how to fake an ID for alcohol. And if you know porn, you'll be bored to death on old people topics discussing condom sizes.

Did someone mention "pompous"?

Thanks for stating the bleedin' obvious. My post was subtly pointing out that the entire thread has gone waaaaay off topic and seems to be populated by posters with nothing better to do than post off-topic nonsense. Maybe I was too subtle. This thread has veered way off topic and will be closed unless it returns on-topic.
