Your argument earlier though was that "any topic should be able to be discussed between adults," which sounds like a fine argument but only works if we really are "between adults" here - which we are not.
That in itself is a poor argument though, I think it's already been established that the threads in question were not unsuitable for minors.

Again - I haven't read the thread in detail so I'll take your word on the tone and contents. (I haven't read it and won't, simply because I expect it's like any other banter thread, probably fun to post in at the time but boring to read afterwards. I read enough of those as a mod, I am not going to waste time on them now.)

Your argument earlier though was that "any topic should be able to be discussed between adults," which sounds like a fine argument but only applies if we really are "between adults" here - which we are not.

If you want to fight against 'censorship' (which BTW there has always been and always will be - EF never was the free-speech-playground that people are so nostalgic for) then you just need a better argument, one that isn't based on a counterfactual premise. That's all.
I a, sorry but in what this is different than the outside world where kids see huge posters of women in underwear, bikinis and less? How this thread was more offensive of what people are seeing on a daily basis in the streets?

Off topic - if you apologise again for your English, I'm gonna red rep you. You are more eloquent than most of the native speakers here, myself included.....so quit with that, ok?
You two are sweety pies Thank you!

Sometimes it's hard to express oneself on a hot-problematic-topic in a clear way. I'm always afraid I'll be understood wrong by more heated people and end up in a stake outside Rome as Spartacus...

Can I also suggest that (without any judgement or criticism implied or meant) that this discussion may be better moderated by those that have been participating recently rather than those for who it has been impossible for several weeks?
Please explain.

That those Mods closer to the situation with these threads are maybe better to address the questions of those (who are more irritated by it than I am) than somebody a bit more distant jumping in with threats of closure....

Re: How to close a Thread?

I think this thread now rules out Caviarchips and Ouchboy as ever getting the longed for mod positions

I agree with the other poster - maybe CarlosR will be the next announcement

Anyway I'll let you all get back to the latest EF drama

Can I ask why this thread has not been closed? Seeing as it has a link to a video with soldiers urinating on dead bodies?

Apparently, it was the situation in the N. Korean government, just after the Great Reader's death.

Nope -- still doesn't explain your puzzling reference to "those for who(m) it has been impossible for several weeks".

The point is, as I mentioned before, is not so much "BRING THAT THREAD BACK, NOW!". It's more: is there censorship? Are there hidden rules we are not aware? Are we to fear moderator ruling when we have broken no rules, not even in between the lines (not talking about the tits thread at this point)? Is this forum biased in certain topics?

Again sorry for not being able to express myself properly. I feel like half my message is being lost because I don't dominate the freaking language (not that i know how to properly write Portuguese...)
Whoa, back up a minute. "Fear" moderator ruling?? Come on, someone closed a discussion thread on the internet. We're hardly talking 4:00am raids, forum police dragging away frightened housekeepers in curlers - are we?

I'm not a mod (can I get a Hallelujah on that?!) and would be the last to tell the current mods how to do their jobs - but in their shoes I'd be seriously tempted to close this thread too and tell everyone to go take a walk in the sunshine or something. It's getting awfully heavy in here.

Look, there always are, always have been 'hidden rules' on EF, guidelines not made completely explicit or applied completely as they are written. For example, racist, hateful and xenophobic posts are forbidden, but a certain amount of ranting and Swiss-bashing in Complaints Corner is tolerated, but no more than a certain amount... if there is too much (and who decides how much is too much? the mods, of course) a few posts are deleted, threads are locked, people take the hint and tone it down a bit until life goes on pretty much as before.

Same with sexual/'anatomical' matters. NSFW pictures are forbidden, but a certain amount of mildly racy discussion is tolerated, but no more than a certain amount. If it gets out of hand (in the mods' opinion - who else's?) then it will be reined in.

That's the way it always has been and probably always will be. You're never going to pin down the mods and make them tell you exactly what amount/kind of xenophobic or risqué posting they will tolerate before they start pressing buttons (they probably can't even quantify it themselves - I know I couldn't have when I was a mod) so you need to think about what exactly you want out of this discussion.

This goes for every forum I've ever been on, not just EF: if you're unhappy with a particular decision, argue it politely but don't ever push the mods to make all their rules totally explicit. If you succeed, the rules they make will invariably be stricter than either you or they would actually prefer. (and then if they enforce those rules they will be uniformly hated, if they don't enforce them they will be reviled as 'inconsistent' and eventually someone will call for a fresh round of consistent, explicit rules and it starts all over again. Been there, seen that.)
