Club thread suggestions ideas

Ive suggested to the forum that a seperate area is created for the various groups here on the Forum and would like to read others veiws on this .
for example a groups section would include , cycling , walking motorcycling , photography, etc etc

My suggestion for forming a seperate groups/clubs section on the forum, stems from the fact that when events are posted on the calendar under social events, they tend to get discussed before , during and long after the event . This has the negative effect of pushing other events lower down the list, and therefore lowering the number of viewers to other events. With around 60 viewers and attendees to the photography group which is growing by the week, a lot of people wish to comment on the event , and personally as much as i like the comments i cant help feeling guilty for other event organisers who want there events to be succesful.
Please if you have any comments or suggestions please post here. The suggestion has been made simply to post comments on daily life , i feel is not a satisfactory answer.

Re: Club thread suggestions ideas

There currently are only a few groups as active as the photo club and they have permanent threads in Sports/Fitness. Maybe Daily Life wasn't the best suggestion and even though tapping cams with the index finger isn't a sport in the narrow sense of the word I propose to join the clubs there. It's in the Activities section after all!

Re: Club thread suggestions ideas

Hi Karl

Is your issue on this - people replying to the photography meet #1 thread for chatter and that event being long gone? would closing the threads after that meet has finished be a solution and then when event number #X is announced people can carry on the discussion there? therefore it's relevant that your thread is bumped to the top of the new posts list as its a current event

Could a thread called 'Zurich Photography Group chit chat' in Social Events work? to create a whole new forum for potentially one thread to chat about the current photography event think is not necessary just yet, I can see what you are asking for I just don't think currently it is viable for just this - the sports chat is best being kept in the sports/fitness forum IMO.

I really appreciate your concerns that you feel people keep seeing your event at the top of the list because people are commenting often in that thread but if people use the new posts link then i don't see this as a problem - the biking threads are often at the top of the list too as were the skiing ones in winter - and even better more exposure to you and your event the more it's commented on

I think it's best to keep the chatter on your thread as it keeps the event open for people to see and sign up -

this is just my view on it so far - it doesn't mean the idea isn't a good one
