| | Re: Concerning all users - Should time be limited to edit your post? | Quote: | | | | | I just posted my first post and cannot edit it ten seconds later. I never saw an edit button. So my post has duplicated text and I have reported myself to ask a mod to fix it.
And yes me too, I am unable to see errors until I have posted. Preview makes no difference. I do read my posts and correct them immediately - when editing is not disabled.
So limiting new posters, not new members as I am not new, is embarrassing.
Anthony - post number 2.
and since I cannot edit that, zero edit tolerance, I see that because I "reported" my first post it is now marked and I am tarred with having been "groaned" at.
Anthony | | | | | Yeah the edit limits suck and even for regular members there is a limit that stops you updating older posts with new info. It's a stupid restriction that no other forums I know has.

Remove groans from the scoreboard, that’s what blobbies are for. | | | | | But what if someone tells a bad joke? |

Tom would probably be so traumatised he’d need therapy if he didn’t get to use his groan button. | The following 6 users would like to thank Belgianmum for this useful post:

| | | | | The rules on editing were updated after this thread had been active for a while https://www.englishforum.ch/714063-post139.html. Looks like they may have been modified again than that as well, as I don't think the 100 rep point criteria for unlimited editing is valid any more. I'll update the sticky. | Quote: | | | | | and since I cannot edit that, zero edit tolerance, I see that because I "reported" my first post it is now marked and I am tarred with having been "groaned" at.
| | | | | The groan doesn't seem to have anything to do with your lack of edit capability, and certainly nothing to do with you reporting the post, which is exactly the right thing to do in those circumstances.

Thanks for that. The mods have graciously fixed my posts and even combined the two into one so I am no longer feeling quite so inept.
Where that groan came from remains a mystery, given it appeared when I "reported" my post I guessed it was related to said "report".
Shame to hear about the miscreants that appear, a sign of the times where social media really doesn't seem all that social.

Anthony | | | | | Anthony I suggest developing a thicker skin and not giving a rats ass about thanks and groans from anonymous people. In real terms they mean less than nothing. | The following 2 users would like to thank Chuff for this useful post:

It's possible that you got another one on a post that was subsequently merged with an earlier one, but no record is kept of that.

Edit: Having said that, I did just follow it through and can confirm that the >100-post limit on editing older posts is still correct.

Anthony | | | | | Your groan was from St. Lehmans in November 2020. That's a great sign of fitting in as he groans everyone on here!

thanks (no thanks button available for me) that I can see.
so as regards this topic it looks like various matters are all denied under the "edit" topic.
I'll as the mods to combine these two.
Anthony
