Re: Can't start a thread? Look here

I've just noticed the train wreck that this thread has become and have been trying to work out why it is so difficult for some people to find the new thread button. After all, this forum works the same way as pretty much every other forum on the internet - messages are divided into areas, and you enter a particular area if you want to start a new topic in it.

However, when meeting several EF members in person they've told me that they only ever use the front page of the forum, or the portal page - you know the one which just shows you some brief information about the forum, including the last 10 posts. They say that's the only page they ever visit, and they don't actually click the link in navbar which says "Forum", where they would discover that the forum actually has a structure, and they might stumble into the relevant area that they want and find the new thread button.

The front page of this site was only ever intended to give a quick taster to visitors about what this site contained, as well as a few bits of spice like a random poll, number of people online, etc. It was just supposed to be the introduction to the forum, pointing the way to the actual forum itself. It was never intended to be used as the only page for accessing the forum on an ongoing basis!

Therefore, I am considering removing that 10 latest threads thing on the front page. Those of you who are addicted to it - simply press "Forum" or "New Posts" instead - simple.

Re: Can't start a thread? Look here

This is the first forum I ever joined and I have to be honest in telling you that it took me a while to figure out how to start a new thread. So I think this will be very helpful for new members.

Re: Can't start a thread? Look here

I've spent hours trying to figure out how to start a post and was sent some info stating I should find a button called 'new thread' but cannot find nor see it, help? I cannot figure out why it is so hidden... Any help is highly appreciated, thanks for your time!

On the Home page, select Forum on the left side, then the individual forum that you require. The New thread button will then be at the top left.

Re: Can't start a thread? Look here

Hi all,

I am cannot Post a new thread in the Marketplace Forum.
It says I do not have rights to do so or I am trying something incorrect?
Can someone suggest how to do that ?

Thanks,
Surbhit
