Ideas for gifts: books, movies and/or music

I am on the scrounge for ideas for Christmas gifts that are a bit special and I have a couple of birthdays early Jan too, so I am hitting the shops next week.

I am very interested to find out if you have a book, a movie or a music album (or all 3 ) at home you would never give up, that you listen to, read or watch regularly and consider one or all three to be wonderful and a dearly valued possession(s).

Looking forward to your answers.. and thank you

Chris83 has no particular reputation at present
Re: Ideas for gifts: books, movies and/or music

Book: Earthly Powers - Anthony Burgess. Less overtly sensational than clockwork orange but deeper and utterly worth it. Twnetieth century religious and political history distilled into an amazing narrative. If you're interested in that type of thing, of course.

Movie: 'The Snowman', drawn by Raymond Briggs. THE ONLY thing to watch at christmas.

Music: Radiohead OK Computer is the defining album of the 90s, for me, and a suitable present for, well, anyone who needs the 90s defining for them, I guess :-)

Re: books...

Are you looking for fiction, non-fiction, modern, classics, etc.? I could go on and on about the books I love and return to again and again - but what I love might bore another to tears.

So - before I natter on, any categories, guidelines?

Thank you Chris

Hi meloncollie - all genres please.. everything and anything: poetry, novels, biographies, historical novel, history, spiritual, plays, cookery, sport, Art, photography.. fact or fiction, anything at all

a book or books that you value above all others.

The same for music and film.

Thank you
