I used to hate Brighton a rough pebble beach, cheap and nasty away day from London.
But now London and Brighton are such inspiring places to live- so many new ideas, fresh insights.... I love it!

Gas prices! Even those with Little Diesel cars are taking to the trains, so now the trains are overfull- It's getting bad.

But what if you're not gay?
I thought you were !

It's a great place - no matter who you chose to sleep with (as long as they are a consenting adult!)

Wash your mouth out! Hastings, if you please.

Like Brighton but half the price. Not ideal for a commute to London but there are plenty who undertake the two hours each way on the train.

Re: where to live close to London

Just depends which station/underground will be best for the location of your job - job location will determine all the rest- before budget, preference, schools, etc, will be taken into account. No point living in St Albans if you work in the City for instance. Unfortunately all areas with an easy (easier!) commute to South Bank, the City and Canary Wharf with 'nicer' homes are HUGELY expensive - or not particularly nice (btw what is nice for one may not be for another - horses and courses, and all that).

I've lived in Putney, Wandsworth, Roehampton - liked all 3. Brentford was not quite so nice - but close enough to Kew, Richmond, etc- and much cheaper - also Teddington, Ealing - all close enough for easy commutes and quite 'middle of the road' price wise and 'socially'.
