| | Facebook and suicide
Apparently, a lady announced she took a large amount of pills and was going to die, and nobody helped.
*shrug
here is the link: http://technolog.msnbc.msn.com/_news...-no-one-helped
EDIT: LINK EDITED
Kinda sucks to hear this, but then again that seems to be human nature.

actually, i saw my first FB suicide note last year. | | | | | That is just plain weird. My first reaction to a FB note would be: " well this is just a cry for attention" not a real suicide attempt. But it seems that this also gets people killed.
Just makes you ponder how many of your FB "friends" are really your friends.?

I'm not surprised either by the "suicide note" or the apparent tone of some of the responses (some positive - trying to help - and some negative) as I've seen all of that on gamer forums for years now.
Blizzard actually has a response protocol for anything like that and if anyone posts a "suicide note" on their forums (or discusses in game for that matter), they immediately call the police in the person's area.
Too bad it sounds like none of the friends of the woman in question thought to actually call the police in her area.

Read some where in the link that a friend of hers said "'She ODs all the time and she lies.'"
That is really sad if a friend thinks that about you. You're nothing but a drama-queen playing on peoples emotions, and I guess if you cry wolf that many times, you will be ignored.
FB is full of such garbage. I read angsty drama-queen messages of friends daily, bitching moaning about their lives and work - I've learnt to ignore and hide some of peoples status updates. | Quote: | | | | |
Just makes you ponder how many of your FB "friends" are really your friends.? | | | | | I wouldnt call all of them "friends but yes, people on my list are people I want to keep in my life. Most of them are family, old school friends, ex colleagues and ex-industry work mates, clients whom I want to keep in touch with for professional reasons.

Out of curiosity, has anyone ever posted such a message on EF? I'm sure there are some attention-seeking drama queens on here who wouldn't think twice about it...

It came with the usual mixture of replies offering either help and sympathy or encouragement for a fast exit. |
