Ah, thank you, Oldhand! Had no idea this thread was started till Mrs D told me. Yes, we are surprised and happy because, just the day before, I told my other half that I would apply to the school to be trained as part of a Social Dog team (for pet therapy) if they had a dog not suited for guiding but whose foster dogma/dogpa could not take it on.

Ecstatic but bidding good-bye to a fur-less floor.

Yep. Soon! The trainer, though disappointed, still sweetly wants to do the Graduation Parade for us (she will take Umbria in her Seeing-Eye halter around Basel while we follow and watch 20m behind them) to show what a good guide dog Umbria could've been.

Thanks, Fduvall. Yes! She loves the snow and hops in and out of it like a hare.

We were heartbroken every time she went back to her trainer after her breaks with us. Now glad all that is behind us.

Aw, Nil, it's all fine now. Thanks for the sentiments and support.

She doesn't miss anyone - she always lives in the present and fully appreciates whomever she is with, be they humans, cats or other dogs.
We got a lot to learn from her. She bonds very easily with people - that's partly why she'll make a good pet therapy dog.

P.S. The school's not overjoyed as we were going to foster another pup, but now that's a no-go as a potential guide pup should not be brought up with another dog in the flat.
