No. Staning on the wrong side of the rope was plain stupid (and definitely nothing "heroic" as the vid says). You don't need to be an engineer to know that the force of the rope straigthening will knock you over.

Really wondered if they had a bit too much desert sun there...

Exactly. Anyone who spends any time around tow lines or winches (i.e. people whose office is located at a race track...) knows as first principles that you stay the heck away from any line under tension.

I think the 3 work really well as a team and frankly think that James May is the more sensible person of all 3 of them. I do however find Richard Hammond a tad bit too superficial (maybe it's just me ).
I agree Hammond's a bit of a light weight. It seems he's just there to be the but of the jokes and his real passion is just being on the telly like an Alan Partridge. They've already ageed he's not a real petrol head as he's never owned an Alfa Romeo. Surely that question should have been asked at his interview.
When James May is insulted by Clarkson he gives an excuse or argues back, Hamster just says, "Well yeah". A bit of a sycophant. Just like me......I was skiing in St Moritz and Clarkson was lying low on the slopes in his canary yellow ski jacket with his wife and daughter. I was so damned cool when I couldn't think of anything clever to say and blurted out the line, "Welcome to Switzerland Jeremy". What a tool!
He looked to the ground and saluted me.
After less than an hour's skiing my friend gave up and went for a coffee. I went to the bar on the slopes she was at and there was Jeremy at about 11 in the morning now without his wife or daughter, taking pain killers along with a bottle of Heineken and a cigarette. Typical Gezza.
Even his daughter had to call him Jeremy because he completely didn't register when she called out Daddy three times.

He always reeked of fags. Woe betide anyone that interrupts him while he is chatting to someone.

Really? What else would a US car magazine be about?
Well top gear uk have filmed many times in the us, and moonshine and nascar only got featured on the episode that aired a couple weeks after the US top gear featured the same theme, is what i meant. I think they may have purposefully done that to show how superior they are to the US folks, as it was a lot better.

Ariel you b@@stards.

What was once an achievable 30K dream is now a V8 overpriced nightmare. Having driven a supercharged VTEC version, the engine howl at 11000rpm was like driving with a Wyvern on your shoulder. now they have a computer controlled double bike engined outrageously expensive race track car.

They have killed it's minimalist roots. Dream shattered. Sob.

I had a 73 superbug that was very pretty (I could get on two wheels so I was happy... In hindsight I'm beggining to see why my father looked worried when I got behind the wheel of my husbands M3 )

They should have dropped one of these http://www.vw.com/en/models/newbeetle.html
