Most Romantic thing you've done or heard someone do for their partner?

One of my friends just did a little party for him and his girl on the roof of a random building near his apartment and he decorated the top with flowers and wrote her name in rose petals and then set off 2 caged doves from their cages they are FREEEE ;p - to celebrate their anniversary

I thought that was pretty creative and unique

Anyone else got some stories/ideas?

I was nice to my wife when she allowed my tea to go cold this morning.

Poor doves. Pigeons probably had them for lunch.

I suppose asking someone to marry you doesn't count? Most romantic thing anyone's ever done for me hands down.

The near second was the time he carried an old 20min around in his coat pocket for nearly a week because there'd been a picture in it of somewhere vaguely near my home town (I hadn't the heart to tell him it was nearly 300 miles away), and he wanted to show it to me but kept on forgetting it whenever we were together. It sounds silly but I was just <melt> when he fished it out with a sheepish smile and told me.

Re: Most Romantic thing you've done or heard someone do for their partner?

When my son was about 6-8 weeks old and I was at the exhausted, sleepless-but-breastfeeding-so-all-nights-are-down-to-me stage, hubby used to come in from a busy day at week, feed me dinner, put me to bed, bring the baby in for a last minute feed, then order me to sleep for 2-3 hours on the basis that regardless of how much the baby fussed, he couldn't actually be THAT hungry.

When it transpired that I just couldn't settle with the baby fussing, he would put my son in his car seat and drive 15 mins to a 24 hour Tescos (because it was usually getting on for 10pm by now), where he would stand reading the magazines for an hour or two whilst rocking the car seat with his foot.

They would return about midnight, which meant I'd had sufficient good quality nap time to get through the night.

He only did this a handful of times, over 10 years ago, and it still makes me smile and feel warm now. Blokes - do not underestimate how much marriage capital you can build up with gestures like this at key stages of life!

Last year, a guy I got to know sent me a different bunch of flowers every week - and I don't mean just a few wilting roses.......they were really beautiful.............

Once i was at home and he was out. I asked him to bring me something nice and he came back with a small teddy bear. Sweet! I then had to go to work at night and when i got to the car i saw a very nice bouquet of roses on the steering wheel

Re: Most Romantic thing you've done or heard someone do for their partner?

In a former life I used to draw up wills for a living and I recall being so impressed (well ok I was only 23) when one client (wealthy) requested that if he should die before his wife, a standing order should be placed with a florist so that a single red rose could be sent to his wife every Friday until her death.

My boss checked the will over and commented "urrghhh creepy"

One man's meat, another man's poison ...

Re: Most Romantic thing you've done or heard someone do for their partner?

I once made love to my significant other while playing the latest Rammstein cd....ok, I'm just joking, the most romantic thing I've heard someone do, was my Dad's uncle, when he got marrried to his wife, they went to draw up his will and it read "everything to my wife". No prenup BS, no "not sure how long this is going to last"..nothing, just plain ol' love.

So how was his life on a park bench? Feeding the pigeons must have some kind of entertainment value I presume.

..you know, if you weren't a frail old man, I'd so groan you. ...but if you must know, they are still married and both in their early 90s.

Aw, not long now, and the little one should settle into some sort of pattern. Might not be one that first with yours, or even fits in with civilised people's idea of night and day, but it should be some sort of pattern none the less

Re: Most Romantic thing you've done or heard someone do for their partner?

When I was still living in Germany I'd become seriously fed up with driving to Zurich every weekend for 2 years whilst my other half (not married yet) just waited for me to arrive on Friday evenings.

Sooo - I found myself a good looking toy boy a bit closer to home. Anway, that seemed to do the trick
Christmas Eve, cold, snowy shxxit weather, my then bf (now husband) arrived with an Avis van and his best friend, rang the doorbell of where I'd moved in with the "new" guy and without any further discussion whatsoever they proceed to carry out my furniture and load it into the van to drive it and me back to Zurich. It was all so matter-of-fact and extremely romantic He never actually proposed - it was just totally clear what the consequence of that trip would be

Re: Most Romantic thing you've done or heard someone do for their partner?

I took my romantic next ex-wife to romantic Maldives and romantically cruise to the azure blue water in a small romantic boat then I pulled out a ring and a small romantic knife from my pocket and proposed her saying (very romantically) Marry me or you will be food to those fish very soon.
