Will easyjet refund me?? the saga goes on

So you may have read how easyjet left me high and dry stuck in scotland at the end of lastyear, leaving us sat on the tarmac for 4 hours only to unload us, cancel the flight and have the plane take off, then where unable to re-book anyone until at least 4 days later.

Anyway I made my own way back via buses, trains, friends picking me up in the middle of the night, staying at a mates house, and the father in law taking me to the airport, and finally a flight from gatwick to geneva and a couple of trains home.

Finally easyjet have asked for my card details (even though they have them) so they can process a refund, so will I get one? what will they refund? they have my reciepts etc the fun just keeps on coming with these cowboys

Re: Will easyjet refund me?? the saga goes on

I've had two situations with EasyJet.

1) Early flight to Gatwick was delayed, which meant I would miss my connecting flight.

2) Wife was sick, so had to cancel a trip.

Both times I had insurance Elvia/Mondial (through EasyJet website). Both times I've had a full refund.

Definitely worth the extra for that insurance.

Re: Will easyjet refund me?? the saga goes on

You may notice, if you check your confirmation emails, and even the printout that you may take when booking, that you will actually have no record of the per-leg price of your trip. Certainly when I needed a refund, the amount they refunded did not match my recollection of what I paid for that leg, but I had no evidence with which to challenge it.

...and another time...apparently when their IT system fails and they cannot fly....that is an act of God, not something that they could be reasonably expected to avoid (by having a decent IT system for example...) - in those cases they simply won't pay without legal action

good luck

Re: Will easyjet refund me?? the saga goes on

I got a full refund from Easyjet in December (hotel, food, phone calls) for a flight I missed in October. There was no quibbling, haggling etc. They were polite and apologetic but very, very slow (about 6-7 weeks).

Re: Will easyjet refund me?? the saga goes on

Its not jsut easyjet. Our flight from Basel to London/London to Edinburgh was cancelled in December with British Air - still no refund of the points (we purchased with points) and money that we paid for the taxes. We did get a letter right away saying we would get the refund but it hasn't materialised yet.

I suppose at some point we could get the credit car companies involved. They are supposed to provide some protection for our purchases. We did pay for our flights - which never took place.

Re: Will easyjet refund me?? the saga goes on

Just got another email from then (2 in one day!! they have been taking 2 weeks plus to answer) they are refunding some random amount to my card, no idea how they have worked it out, it bares no relation to the reciepts I sent them, but does just about cover the main expense of the train from scotland to london, unfortunatly it doesn't cover my mobile phone bill for the journey but I guess anything is better then nothing. lesson learnt, no more easyjet for me

Hello,

Let me shake you with honest feedback.
You are acting as a passive kid, waiting for the parents to give you reward or punish you for your bad actions.
Then, you are acting as a dumb kid by not learning the right lesson(lesson learnt, no more easyjet for me ).

No need to say that seeing your post not only annoy me, but gives me the will to give you a good tap on the shoulder and teach you a lesson.

Now let me lose 10 minutes of my time to help you.

1) You are passively waiting for easyjet customer service people to find solution to your problems. WTF??? easyjet customer service people!!!!!!!! why don't you ask directly to a random retard in the street???

2) You need to find the real question: what easyjet people HAVE TO pay you. Ie the reference to the LAW, to your PASSENGER rights (as per EU regulations 261/2004).

3) You need to learn forgetting their stupid answer, and contact the right office who will check what law easyjet has fu.cked/ is attempting to f.uck

4) You learnt the wrong lesson here, not taking easyjet anymore? how stupid... Then stop flying because they are all piece of cr.ap crooks. Don't even start me on "lufthansa" or ryanair.

Ok PM me what happened in details, such as delay time, etc... and I will help you.
Otherwise find my other post where I give all links to Passenger rights, Civil Enforcment authority, (like CAA in UK, and FOCA in bern, Switzerland).

Oh and learn patience and to ignore customer service answer because they bullsh1t you all the time. It's only when the FOCA or CAA will contact them that you will surprisingly have nice people contacting you- (for your info every passenger's rights infrigment you report can lead to 5000euros fine for them).

you know life's too short, talking to these people just make me want to punch them, on top of that dialing them internationally will cost a small fortune, I read your posts (thanks) but (and I know this means they win) I just can't be bothered to keep on chase chase chasing them for the sake of around £100 that I'll be down on the deal, I'll vote with my feet and not use them again, and slag them off to anyone who'll listen. I fully understand shit happens, but the main issue I have with easyjet is not the cancelled flight, or the 4 hours we sat on it, or the fact the staff all ran off (yes ran off) just before the flight cancellation notice appeared, its the fact they got us all off the plane with lies, then the plane took off empty.

so if you ever find yourself on an easyjet plane going no where, and they tell you you can leave the plane "for your own comfort" ffs don't get off the plane!!

Similar case - return flight LCY-GVA has been cancelled (a day before the Heathrow stopped). There were other flights to GVA on that day, but fully booked. Was offered rebooking for the next day, without any guarantee that the flight will really take place. Declined, took Eurostar.
In addition to that, they were rude and did not inform anyone about their rights (according to Regulation 261/2004).

I let my legal assurance play with Swiss - so far nothing interesting happened.

Fair enough-
I made a long nice reply but stupid database error screwed it...
Ok good for not bothering for a small amount. That's the spirit, always calculate hassle/money.

Although read that:
There are three broad categories of compensation and assistance that may be required in the case of cancellations or denied boarding.
[edit] Cash compensation

Cash compensation is a payment of:
  1. 250, for a flight of less than 1500 km
  2. €400, for flight within the EU of greater than 1500 km in distance, or any other flight of greater than 1500 km but less than 3500 km in distance
  3. €600, for a flight not within EU of greater than 3500 km in distance where flight types are as defined in notes.
So we no longer talk about 100chf...

And read thoroughly the document, as there are certain extraordinary conditions under which one does not have right to compensation.

Yes, you would also read that this term "extraordinary circumstances" is not well defined in the Eu 261/2004 regulation.

Therefore the companies defended themselve all the time, kicking customer's claim saying "extraordinary circumstances, goodbye".

But judges have told them: "no, no, not so fast. Pay and shut up". So they did.

You can find at the end of the wikipedia link, some precedencies of real court judgment. (those ones are used by lawyers to defend your position)-
i'm not saying you need a lawyer you can get compensation without them.

Easyjet are actually trying to do that now to my claim, which made me laugh.
