If you're an Expat in Switzerland...what do you do?

I'm a 'private chef' for a family in Geneva.

What do you do for a living in Switzerland?

Re: If your an Expat in Switzerland...what do you do?

I make up stories about aliens, stand in snowy fields watching children fall over and sit through three-hour-long meetings in German, doodling pictures of pirates captioned in invented alphabets.

And I haven't made a single word of any of that up!

Re: If your an Expat in Switzerland...what do you do?

I'm retired and I now spend my time on here moving Threads which are posted in the wrong Forum.

'Employment' has to do contracts, working conditions, not just someone asking a question which will doubtless get some very amusing, but very off-topic answers - which is why I am taking the precaution of moving it there already.

Added later: I also correct the spelling and grammar in titles before I move them.
I can see that my 'warning' about the replies was spot on.

Re: If you're an Expat in Switzerland...what do you do?

Today I spent the entire day editting, making funky and fussy teens roll their Rs the right way, putting some of them into detention, ironing little and big shirts for 4 hrs, eating large white sausage, practicing French, sipping some wine, dusting bass guitar, more ironing and making lemon waffles, playing a monkey game.

What do you do?

Best if I don't divulge too much. Retired and hell bent on enjoying myself. But I'll teach French/German/English if asked nicely and if there isn't much snow to play with.

Re: If you're an Expat in Switzerland...what do you do?

I woke up half awake and tired from tennis session last night, looked thru the window and thought gosh another crappy and freezing day... Kissed my sleepy spouse goodbye, got to the office nine'ish and sipped two and a half cup of coffees. Had random chat with aliens. Put the headset on and went thru lines of programming code, lunchtime come had a meat-loaf and Swiss noodles for lunch... Fetched my wife from work, got back home watched some soappies went thru interesting content on the EF, drove to drop my wife off and now waiting to fetch her after she is finished coaching... Day is not quite over yet

And I did gazillion other things in-between but that's whole another story

I'm a "private eater" for a family of chefs in Basel.

But then I wake up and realise I work in an office.

Blimey! Sorry.

I guess I really am getting answers I wasn't expecting! I was expecting: "I make Emmantal", "I teach English", "I'm a banker", "I sew white crosses on red backgrounds in a flag shop", "I work for Toblerone."

Re: If your an Expat in Switzerland...what do you do?

Maybe you just wanted to post again that you're a "private chef"?

I do what I do. I'm important in my own world and insignificant in everyone else's.

You will get to know that if you post an ambiguous thread/question you will get a multitude of answers which are nothing like you expected! Welcome to the English Forum!

Me, I am CEO of Time Management Corporation. I am responsible (?) for 4 (5 if you include the husband) children under the age of 7. This includes lots of yelling, cooking, cleaning, yelling, ferrying them all from A to B to C and back to A again, more cleaning, more yelling, more cooking and LOTS of time on EF!!

The creation and production of 2 beautiful children.

That sounds posh, isn't it?
