Can anyone tell me how to download/buy/whatever our current Microsoft software on a computer bought in Germany into English? Is there a link somewhere?

Unfortunately no such luck, MS can only be bought in a single language. To change you would have to buy the English version an reinstall.

You need to change the language settings in the control panel. See the information in this link

You may need to download additional languages if they are not already on the system but the instructions are in the link.
