Poor sods. Brits can no longer afford a proper phone.

SOURCE

Once at the top of the 'must have' list, Apple's iPhone 4 has now slipped out of the top five most popular mobile handsets, according to research.
With HTC handsets taking the top three slots in uSwitch.com's Mobile Tracker for February, it looks like take-up of the iPhone is waning, with a drop of three places since January. It suggests that the popularity of the Apple flagship product is being eaten into by handsets based on the Google Android operating system, which are largely available free with cheap pay-monthly mobile contracts.

The economy is starting to bite... Now the iPhone will retain the exclusivity it deserves with none of these silly Android owners frothing at the mouth biting at the heels of respectable phone owners.

There is no comparison. I had the misfortune of using an iPhone 4 out of the box last week. It felt like it had already been set up by someone else. It felt like Steve Jobs' personal phone.

Not sure how much credibility the article has considering they have a picture of a Desire HD which is captioned with HTC Desire.

Re: Poor sods. Brits can no longer afford a proper phone.

Hi,

isn't this just a global trend ? Android is growing rapidly in the market and the iphone share is either stagnating or falling. Apple will remain for a long time the most profitable mobile company because of the money it makes out of content providers/developers. I had an iphone and now I have an Android phone and the Android phone just feels better and much more integrated. It feels like my phone and I am in control.

The same will happen in the slate market, Android will start eating away at Apple's lead in this market.

This is nothing to do with price but choice and availability.

Have fun

Martin

There are those that have iPhones, and there are those that don't. Simples.
