| | Ready to watch the Oscar Award Ceremony tonight?
Anybody out there who will be watching the Academy Awards Ceremony 2011 tonight at 2am?
The German channel PRO 7 will be broadcasting the show as of 01:30am until 5am and then run a repeat show at 7:30am for all of you who don't want to stay up all night!
...and the Oscar goes to....

The Social Network will win over The King's Speech. It is after all, The Oscars.

I'll be happy as long as Black Swan doesn't take many (or any) awards. I finally saw it last night and was incredibly disappointed. I'm not sure which was more empty -- the characters or the plot.
But I guess I can see how teenage girls with some narcissistic desire to be a ballerina might like it -- or horny teenage boys who appreicate it solely for the lame masturbation and lesbians scences.
I had suspected that this film was (for lack of better words), immature, but then when I saw that it was up for so many awards, I decided to see it. I should have trusted my instincts.

I've seen Black Swan as well and thought it was quite good. Okay, it wouldn't be my first choice as far as The Oscars go although I can see why Natalie Portman got rave reviews for the character she portrayed.

Saw both King's Speech and Back Swan.
I was terribly disappointed with the King's Speech. Well acted and professionally presented. But it covers old ground. Anyone who has watched British TV during the 20 years, will know the story - ad nausium. It's sort of 'Mrs Simpson meets Churchill with that Mr Hitler makes the trains run on time' in the background. Add to this some eccentric casting. Clearly made on a budget that avoided any expensive period shots - like walking in the morning fog to avoid a 1936 London.
As it's not a US film, I expect the King's Speech will also disappoint at the Oscars.
Black Swan on the other hand surprised me. 'What on earth am I doing watching a film about ballet?' I thought as the lights went down. It's a sort of horror film with no idea where it's going. If I really had to watch either again, and I really don't want to, it would be Black Swan...

But there were others that tried desperately to distract from a weak script:
Derek Jacobi playing himself as the Archbishop. Michael Gambon was a fair George V. Clare Bloom as Queen Mary. An ageing Anthony Andrews as Baldwin. Horribly miscast Timothy Spall (the Brummy in 'Auf Wiedersehen Pet') as Churchill. And of course Adolf Hitler again playing himself...

I really liked Inception. Not a big Leo fan, but the storyline was pretty good and the ending orginal.
