Just reply with another Colbert Quote
"...and if our Founding Fathers wanted us to care about the rest of the world, they wouldn't have declared their independence from it!"

I didn't realize Colbert's a comedian. | | | | | Seriously, if you ask any American under the age of 75 who hasn't been out of the country for more than 3 years, they will know who Stephen Colbert is. This is pure irony, folks. Can't believe this thread is still going ....

Sorry I'm a bit slow. What does irony mean?

(And I'd never heard of him, either. But then, I'm not American...)

How does one reply without starting WWIII? | | | | | Is this ironic or what? You are surfing on a digital application that was invented by the US (internet). You are specifically going on a social media product invented by an American in a Harvard dormroom. (Facebook) Another great product brought to you by the courtesy of America. Just by using the internet and Facebook you are spreading the proposition, that the US is still a dominant force in world, at least when it comes to entrepreneurial inventions. |

I don't think 20 minutes has done an article on Stephen Colbert yet.
I've heard there's a popular boy named Justin Bieber though.
Oh, and can you name this year's Schwinger König? I can.

I wonder if this thread is going to continue being a "we're cooler than you because we know who Steven Colgate is and you don't, ha ha ha..." orgy, or are people going to acknowledge that the world does not revolve around tiresome, smug metropolitan American comedians...?

I think most people who know of him see him as quite the famous figure. Sure a lot of people outside of the US don't know him, but he does have a strong following in the US and actually was a very popular possible candidate for president. He was also on Time's 100 most influencial people of 2006.
I don't think he's a comedian though, he's a satirist. Not exactly an Adam Sandler or a Seth Rogan.
