| | Religion matters?
I am embarking on a project which heavily involves religions across the world. As I am only well-versed in some, I would appreciate any help...
Which verses/teachings are important in your religion?
If you feel it's better to send a PM, yes please...
I am really interested to hear your views...
Thanks a g'zillion!
Thanks for some input...
I grew up in a church, know the bible more or less.
I would be interested in all religions actually, more specifically in the teachings about love, reincarnation, or whatever you find essential for yourself.
An example...John 3:16, For God so love the world that....
If it is in a foreign language, I would appreciate if you could let me know where I can find the original writing.
I am ready to answer any questions you have.

| | Re: Religion matters? I'm Atheist, but I like the concept of Norse mythology.Norse mythology is based on tolerance, honesty, honor and respect for nature and all life. One of the core Norse mythology is that each person is responsible for himself and his actions. |

I think a "professional" i.e. a Pastor can give you the best advice.

Do you literally mean "Which verses/teachings are important in your religion?"
or do you mean which verses/teachings are important to us as individuals from the religion we are practising?
Kash.

So are you looking for the key statement of belief of particular religions?
I've studied comparative religion, but never really practiced all the ones I've studied. I suppose here are a few possibilities:
Buddhism:
"Desire and ignorance are the root of suffering"
Japanes Zen Koan:
"What is the sound of one hand clapping?"
Hare Krishna:
"Hare Krishna, Hare Krishna, Krishna Krishna, Hare Hare"
Hindusim:
Ooooommmmmmmmmm

"You're barred!" Shinto
"Put the food over there."

"You're barred!" Taoism
"What is food?"
"What is anything in and of itself?"
"You're in!" Buddism

"You're barred!" | | | | | Actually it wasn't an apple. And anyway it was the 'pear' on the ground anyway...

If it is in a foreign language, I would appreciate if you could let me know where I can find the original writing. | | | | | Here is the original writing for John 3:16:
Οὕτως γὰρ ἠγάπησεν ὁ Θεὸς τὸν κόσμον, ὥστε τὸν Υἱὸν τὸν μονογενῆ ἔδωκεν, ἵνα πᾶς ὁ πιστεύων εἰς Αὐτὸν μὴ ἀπόληται ἀλλ᾽ ἔχῃ ζωὴν αἰώνιον
Hope that helps.
